Pens... I came across a small article in the Sunday NY times, about a writer who gave up writing because he had always been severely punished in parochial school for poor penmanship. He went back to writing when he came across this type of fountain pen...it's called a Kaweco Sport Fountain Pen, and it usually retails for about $15.00 (us), with a box of 6 cartridges costing $1.60. It's supposed to be a really good writing instrument..
It's no longer distributed in the US but I found a place in the UK that does sell it, Andy's pens (i think in london)...I'd love to try one but it will cost more than $15.
Usually at work, I use a monte blanc...but I don't like leaving it lying around..
do you have a favourite type of writing instrument?

i actually have a sort of thing about pens. i like fountain pens but they can be messy if they're not just right. fine ballpoints in multi colors are my poison

I've been given gifts of really good pens before. But in all honestly, I'm fine with cheap drugstore pens. Good quality pens are a lovely decorative item, but practically speaking, any old pen will do (for me).

i try to live life virtuously, but i do have this weakness. i consider promotional pens fair game.

My favorite pen of all time is my Tombow Zoom Rollerball. I've had it for over 20 years...

It has a large, very comfortable grip. And it writes like a dream. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'll write with any pen, but I noticed that if I write with a calligraphy pen my penmanship is much better since it forces my hand to write more evenly and slowly.
Otherwise I start in print and go to cursive and its a damned mess. Gotta love an easy gripper!

I couldn't even find a picture online, but I love these pens. Borders Books, $6.99. Slim, light weight, ballpoint smooth as silk. I keep them everywhere.

They all came with beads, like on the purple one, but I tossed them aside somewhere.

I just bought one of those pen/pencil sets that you see advertised on TV for like $19.99. I bought it from CVS pharmacy in their "after Christmas" sale for $10. It has a fountain pen in it that's decent, but overall, the set's pretty cheap (what did I expect for $10?). I haven't tried the other pens/pencils. I like writing with fountain pens, but it's definitely a bit of an art to be able to write with and properly take care of one.

I don't buy pens. I have enough pens to last me two lifetimes. I got them free from drug reps when I worked in a hospital. Years ago, they used to give really nice stuff, but because of conflict of interest issues, a lot of hospitals have stopped the reps from giving freebies. I've gotten Bics to Mont Blanc look-alike.

I love the weight of a good pen. When I did not have a child this would have been one of my favorite treats. I had a fountain pen that I bought at the Lenox Mall in Atlanta that I just loved. It is a simple thing but it seems to give me so much more pleasure when journaling then a simple Bic. I just use the Bic Round stick lately.
