it's a wonderful country, rich with history and artifacts. ancient traditions.

my brother and his wife had some challenging experiences when they traveled there.

they came back with equally as many negative stories to tell as positive.

tell jess to be careful please. there are many sides to the wonderful collage of culture that is india.

Agreed, there might be some severe cases of culture shock (with consequent feelings of disillusionment), regarding the caste system, and general social ills like poverty, child prostitution, etc. that exist so openly. A beautiful, but complicated place.

It's cheaper to just buy it there in India. It is normal for Indians to see western clothing and styles, especially since their larger cities are a strange mix of western influences, super giant shopping malls and entertainment complexes, and traditional Indian influences.

If she's flying into Bangkok on her way to India, she can always take a day or two there to do some very cheap shopping on her way to India. But, India should have really cheap items to buy.

Oh yes we know her normal cothes will be fine at the university and elsewhere ~ I just wanted to offer her traditional clothing if SHE wanted it ... just a few outfits biggrin

I did not see Bangkok on the flight info ...

And she may choose to wait to buy once IN India nod

One of my dearest friends is a native of Mumbai. It's one of my ambitions to go to India with him sometime. I think it would be amazing.

I'll run your question by him, Mach, and see what he says.
