India ~

It's looking more and more like our Jess will aquire the scholarship and be going to India for 6+ weeks this summer to attend The University of Hyderabad

Does anyone know where I can obtain some traditional India clothing and what the names of the different pieces of clothing are called ?

Thanx all

rose

Great news! She is gonna love it!

She is on a farm so the cow dung shouldn't phase her one bit. biggrin I wish she could send me some mangoes from that region... India has THE BEST mangoes!

You're gonna get lotsa pretty silk veils for sure!

Oh it is best to buy at a merchant in India its cheaper and you can haggle them for a decent price.

this is a good site though...

I LOVE the cotton breezy tunics. Many come in multi-patterns and you can get anything made custom.

Oh she is gonna love the clothing choices. I am so excited for her!

She will need to be taught how to dress herself in a sari...if it's not done right, believe me, she will be told. lol

I'm very envious...I am eligiable for an overseas citizenship of India so I really should get my ass over there at some point.

Hope she has a wonderful time!

She has 2 fellow honors scholar peers from India so I am certian she will learn plus it's just Jessica's way to know what's she doing and not front like she does

I'm envious too and a bit concerned as well

It's cheaper to just buy it there in India. It is normal for Indians to see western clothing and styles, especially since their larger cities are a strange mix of western influences, super giant shopping malls and entertainment complexes, and traditional Indian influences.

If she's flying into Bangkok on her way to India, she can always take a day or two there to do some very cheap shopping on her way to India. But, India should have really cheap items to buy.

Love

That would be very hard when the last child leaves the nest. nod But there probably are some positive things about it too. You and your husband get to spend more time alone together, which is nice. smile

That would be great. I wish her a lot of luck.

I think my daughter, though she talks a big game feels best holding tight to the nest lifeline so she never ventures too far, even in having her own place. My son seems to have this loyality to his part-time job he's had since he was 15, but he has a couple of more years who knows, he's surprised me before.
