Vitamin B3 and skin

Just thought I'd share this. I bought some Vitamin B3, trying specifically to get Niacin to lower my bad cholesterol. Instead I accidentally got the form Niacinamide. It's the non-flushing kind that doesn't help lower your bad cholesterol. Anyways, I looked into it and found it was used in some acne products so I suggested my wife give it a try as she has quite oily skin in places, prone to get pimples. She's been taking just one 250mg tab per day for a couple of weeks and her skin is much better!

The tabs are cheap as chips. I think we paid about $3 equivalent for a bottle of 100 tabs. Just thought I'd share as I know plenty of ppl suffer from bad skin and can often end up spending stacks of money on acne products, and this might be a helpful and cheap option. I'm not sure it'd really work for very bad acne but certainly it seems to have helped my wife. smile

This is really interesting because I read somewhere that too much vitamin B can even worsen acne ( many multivitamin beverages here in Germany contain vitamin B 3, 6 and B 12) and the other interesting thing is that you use B 3 to lower your cholesterol. I´d never heard of that before until I read your thread. I take magnesium to lower bad cholesterol (garlic helps, too, but I work with people and raw garlic causes bad breath). I also use fish oil capsules since the omega 3 fatty acids are said to lower cholesterol.

So, vitamin B 3 is called niacinamide? I guess B 6 is niacin then?

You look quite skinny, I never would´ve thought you´d have to worry about cholesterol.

By the way, I also consume huge amounts of good olive oil and olives and it really helps me a lot, as my doctor also acknowledged.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I have the opposite problem. My skin is too dry.

I have started to use olive oil, even on my face, and it has been really helpful.

Maybe at higher doses? Looking into it, acne medications seem to have about 750mg, whereas Mon takes only one 250mg tab per day. I forget the science behind the difference between niacin and niacinamide, but both are labeled as B3 tabs, it seems. I know niacin causes flushing, and that's the one ppl use to lower cholesterol, whereas niacinamide doesn't.

I ate a LOT of junk in the past. lol I'm much better now, and on a bit of a fitness kick. smile
