I've already said I think the new costume looks like he's going to a fetish ball. Maybe more people need to go to a fetish ball before they understand the reference.

I've never read it. I do remember when Viz was publishing PULP magazine (they ended it and Animerica about a year before they started Shonen Jump iirc) and Banana Fish was in Pulp's lineup. When they ended the magazine, they announced they'd keep releasing it in graphic novel format because fans caused a huge uproar
