I still don't know why people get so bent out of shape over these. I would guess that people post "I'm Leaving" threads for a variety of reasons. Just because you don't know who someone is doesn't mean they don't have their own reasons for doing this, or their own group of friends that they want to alert. You don't like it, don't post on it.

Besides, what's more annoying, these or the countless, boring mock "I'm Leaving" threads, designed to berate other posters for being attention seekers that seem to spring up in their wake? (And that are really attention seeking gestures in disguise. Oh what a boring web we weave...)

And seriously, how many "I'm Leaving" threads are there actually? One or two a week, if that? It doesn't seem so bad in balance...
