I went out last night, hitting up several spots. I ended up at an event with Franco Harris (damn he still look good!) and a bunch of NFL "legends." The roads were clear, no ice on 75. Then when I walked out of the restaurant at midnight, my car was covered in snow. I just took my time and got home in one piece. We've now had 6 inches and might get 2 more. This shit SUCKS!

Houston is at a stand-still. So of course, my wonder AT&T Uverse tv boxes have gone on the fritz. Which, actually is OK.

Because now I can make my family watch my John Wayne DVDs!

I spoke with a client in the UK yesterday and he told me it was on the news there as well. This shit's a MESS! It was 76 fucking degrees a week ago!

A high power demand in the wake of a massive ice storm caused rolling outages for more than eight hours Wednesday across most of Texas, resulting in signal-less intersections, coffee houses with no morning java and some people stuck in elevators.

The temporary outages started about 5:30 a.m. and ended in the afternoon, but "there is a strong possibility that they will be required again this evening or tomorrow, depending on how quickly the disabled generation units can be returned to service," the chief operator of Texas' power grid said in a release.

Because of the problems, Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission agreed to transmit 280 megawatts of electricity to Texas between Wednesday and Thursday night. The electricity will be transmitted at interconnection points in Nuevo Laredo -- across the border from Laredo, Texas -- and Piedras Negras, which sits opposite of Eagle Pass, Texas, the commission said in a statement.

By Thursday, however, Mexico was struggling with its own cold weather and could no longer help.

The high-dollar soiree featuring Prince scheduled for Friday night was been canceed.

A statement released by Joyce Goss, Executive Director, The Goss-Michael Foundation stated: "We are extremely disappointed that theEvent featuring Prince, scheduled for Friday, February 4, at the Intercontinental Hotel, has been canceled. It is our understanding that River Alexander Group, the event organizer, was unable to fund and produce the evening. The organizer came to The Goss-Michael Foundation, invited us to be the beneficiary and receive some of the proceeds which would have gone to our high school scholarship program."

A few hours later, the foundation released this.

"Circumstances have changed and TheEvent featuring Prince WILL take place this evening. The previous statement is rescinded. Prince has arrived in Dallas and will perform this evening."

The price for admission to the concert was $1,500 for a single ticket that included general admission, open bar and food stations.

So Princey is in Dallas in all this damn mess

Yeah, bad weather in Texas is 40 degrees. it was a little ice on the road this morning, that's it, nothin maor where almost the whole city was shut down.

I feel bad, I saw video of the Ice/snow on there early this morning and i said "they better knock that stuff of before someone gets killed." I even thought of calling the news station but I assumed they would have thought of that themselves.
