I heard D'Antoni had a meeting with Billups, Anthony and Stoudamire where he asked them to play more defense.
Why doesn't he teach his players the concept of good team defense? I want D'Amdummy gone yesterday.
Only the Knicks could make Tyler Hansbrough look like Superman.
Chicago moved past Boston for the best record in the conference. Rose is a LOCK for MVP. [Edited 3/16/11 7:31am] |

That's the game I was talking about. 29, 30, either one. I feel you dude. I do. I had the same issues with the Warriors and "Nelly Ball". But honestly, at some point it still comes down to the players taking care of business on their own. If they WANTED to stop somebody, if they cared even the TINIEST little bit about about defense, they could play some all on their own. Obviously it could make a difference if the coaching philosophy was based more on defense. But NOOOOOOTHIIIIING is stopping them from playing it on their own. And there's no saying they'd be a good defensive team even if they did practice and play it.
Its really starting to look like you're right about needing some more pieces. I thought Billups would make more of a difference but I don't really think he cares right now. He doesn't look like the same guy who was playing in Denver. And he's on the downside of his career anyway. |

The Knicks showed flashes of defense against Miami, but there's no consistent effort, night in and night out. I put that on D'Amdummy. He doesn't hold players accountable(including his stars), for missing assignments. Popovich or Doc Rivers wouldn't stand for that nonsense. And look at what Thibodeau's doing with the Bulls. It's always the same excuses from D'Amdummy; "we have to get better on defense" - well WTF is HE doing? How about coming up with better schemes?
Knicks desperately need siize, some defensive stoppers, and a better bench. They're too top heavy. |

But I expected better than 6-6. Scoring's not the Knicks problem. I want effort on the other end of the court. They don't know how to guard the pick and roll. they don't know how to double team and they don't know how to rotate. [Edited 3/17/11 7:15am] |

This is bullshit. Last week it was Tyler Hansbrough. Yesterday, the Knicks made Carlos Delfino look like Superman. And losing to the Pistons on Friday? WTF? 7-8 since the trade.

"It's bad over there," one Celtic, who's tight with several of the Knicks, told me after the game. "Right or wrong, they're not feeling [D'Antoni]. They just ain't." [Edited 3/22/11 15:18pm] |

7-9
I watched the entire game against Boston and they looked REALLY good, until...
A) Mello started jackin' up a bunch of questionable shots
B) They allowed Boston to go on a 13 point run
C) They tried to come back from that run and looked like they'd already given up
Blame whoever (although I don't think it's all D'Antoni's fault), but they clearly aren't all on the same page. And if they are, some of them are choosing to ignore what they know is written on that page. It took Miami a good 60 games, though, so I'm really not expecting much until next season. Although I did expect them to make the playoffs this year. If they aren't careful they could blow that, too. |

Although I still think they might, it doesn't really matter. I watch several basketball games a night (sometimes more) and I can tell you with complete impartiality that the Lakers are playing far better than anyone else in the league right now (13-1 since the All-Star break). Kobe has "the look" for the full 48 minutes, and that should be scary enough. But on top of that Bynum is playing as good as he ever has, Odom is having a better season than last year, Gasol is as solid as ever, Artest is coming around, Fisher has started making big shots, and with Barnes back their bench seems to have found the right rhythm, too. I think the Spurs, Mavericks, Thunder, Celtics, Heat, Bulls and Magic all have a chance. But right now I don't see any of them beating the Lakers four out of seven, and that's what really matters. Its not about one game, its about the series. |

...and of course Brandon Jennings, the kid Donnie Walsh passed over to draft Jordan Hill, torched the Knicks.
Anthony Randolph had another big game last night. If he turns out to be the real deal, that's a huge indictment on D'Amphony for not giving him a chance. Fuck, fuck, FUCK!!! |

Only difference is Maimi was losing to teams with better records or pretty close to them.
New York is losing to teams with under .500 records like the Bucks twice, Pacers twice, Cave thrice ... andI can go on and on. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Nonsense. If you look at every call they make in every game all year long they are right a VAST majority of the time, the obviously call way more fouls than they miss and any mistakes they make always equal out over time (usually just the game in question). There has only been a couple of calls in the last DECADE that have really made any kind of a difference. I don't get the point in complaining about the officials. Just go play better ball and take it out of their hands. |

Now that the players and refs have reached a happy medium I really like it, too. A few too many techs at the beginning of the years, but now its just about right. And its definitely better than getting an extra 5-10 minutes of players talking up the refs each game. |
