ABC Finds Its New Charlie's Angels

January 2011

Having conquered the big screen, the enduring, ass-kicking trio of Charlie’s Angels are returning to the TV from whence they originally sprang back in the 1970’s.

The new pilot produced by Sony Pictures Television and Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films won’t feature the cinematic Angels, so the producers conducted an exhaustive search for their new actresses.

Earlier this week, 1/3 of the team was cast when Annie Ilonzeh (General Hospital) was announced, and today, the circle was completed, with Minka Kelly (The Roommate) and Rachael Taylor (Transformers) getting their wings, so to speak.

Deadline has the scoop on the casting, and the new characters they’ll play.

The already cast Ilonzeh plays an ex-cop and martial arts master named Kate who also knows how to have a good time, apparently. Kelly’s character – who was previously named Marisa, whose name is being changed – is “a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-head combat and a neat freak.” That leaves Taylor, who plays Abby, “the youngest and sassiest of the Angels, the beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook who is an expert con artist herself as well as a Krav Maga expert.”

The pilot was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the duo who created the CW’s Smallville.

Here we go again with all that butch ass fighting that ruined the movie. The original "Charlie's Angels" from the TV show were feminine. All they basically did was hit or kick a man just long enough to get to their purse and grab their gun. The show was focused on a good plot and storyline instead of bunch of karate ass fighting which bores the hell out of me.

Andy is a four letter word.

wasn't the original show bad? Can't they just think of a new way to cast 3 gorgeous women?

Now that the reboot of Hawaii 5-0 is a hit, there's gonna be a bunch of remakes coming out the woodwork.

You'd think they'd learn after the Knight Rider disaster, but all it takes is for one show to be a hit, and every TV exec is gonna greenlight a reboot!

JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Seriously we need to stop giving people these bright ideas of remaking older stuff and come up with something fresh. And Hollywood wants to know why people ain't seeing their films or TV shows. HELLO!

I wanna hate this -- and I probably will -- but I love projects with women who can fight. redface I'm willing to endure that it's a remake, then.

Not just Knight Rider, but Bionic Woman, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island a few years back. What's next, a remake of Charles in Charge?
