CD burners and CD-R's OK, right until last week, I was burning CDs fine and everything but now it seems like whenever I burn a CD, it either skips a track or will stop burning immediately. I keep thinking my CD burner is dirty but some CDs burn all the way through. So I'm thinking it could be my Memorex CD-R's. I don't know what the issue is but it's getting to the point of being ridiculous.
Anybody going through similar issues?

Hmm, I remembered using Maxell CD-R's until Satan-Mart stopped using them. Now I see nothing but Wal-Mart. I might go to Walgreens or any drug store and get either that or TDK like you suggested.

I've never had any consistent problems with CDR or DVDR brands (and have used Memorex quite a bit). I have purchased discs that clearly came from a bad batch more than once, though. Ya know, like, every few discs will get rejected by the burner even though there appears to be nothing wrong with it. That could be the problem, but the only way to know would be to buy more blank discs.
If you've had the burner for a long time it IS possible for the laser diode to get dirty. That COULD be causing the problem. You can buy one of those discs with the brushes on it for like, ten bucks.
Other possible fixes: Update the driver for your burner. Uninstall and reinstall your burning software (or switch to a different one).

Especially if you buy a batch of 100. Don't laugh at my funk

Yeah I think that's what it could be. I'm thinking it's a bad batch because it can occasionally burn successfully without problems. Hopefully my brother comes over and investigate it and if it's dirty, then yeah, may have to clean it out. Otherwise, get a new one.

Are you talking about CD-Rs to burn from a computer or a CD recorder (a stereo component). If you're talking about those for a computer, I usually buy Maxell from Walgreen's. They usually have five of them in a card without cases for $2.00. If I buy them for the CD recorder (the computer ones aren't compatible for recording on it), I usually have to get of a pack of 15 with cases for around $15.00 or so but every now and then they have them on sale for $7.99.
CD-Rs are strange. If I use a Sony disc in my computer, sometimes the computer will make a loud ass noise like a fan and won't burn some of the tracks but a Sony disc will work fine in my recorder. I haven't had any problems with Maxell though. As for those Memorex though, they are horrible. Like someone else said, they are thin and don't last very long. . . . When it comes to cassettes, TDK high bias were the absolute best.
I haven't had too many TDK CD-Rs though because I would have to go to Walmart to get them and I'd rather take a beating than to drive way up there, circle the parking for a parking space and end up waaaay at the back of the parking lot, and then get in there with crowd. I love me some Walgreen's though. Right up the street, quick parking, and in and out in a hurry. Andy is a four letter word.

Yeah my computer.
I need to go to Walgreen's then. They have a good Maxell collection. I'm going to do that just in case my CD burning problems continue with the newest Memorex batch. But nonetheless I ain't waiting to see what the problem is.

I've found that Sony has been the most dependable brand for me as far as music storage is concerned. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Why are some computer burners picky about what cd-r's you can or cannot use? That's what used to happen with my old computer before it died.
