A&E is airing a new show "Beyond Scared Straight" where they are taking troubled teens to prison to scare them into changing their lives.

Right now, I'm sitting here watching the the one with the girls who are in a women's prison. It's interesting because, up until now, most of the shows that I've seen about women's prisons depict them as being a place that's not so bad. Whenever I've seen shows about women's prisons in the past, they tend to make you believe everyone is one big, happy family, baking cookies, knitting, sharing and lots of romance.

The show I'm watching now takes place at Valley State Prison for Women and it looks like it's just as bad as being in a male prison. Some of these women look and act like straight up dudes. All of the things that you usually associate with male prisons (i.e, diseases, rape, gangs, extreme violence) is happening at this particular prison. I'm a man and I wouldn't survive a day in this women's prison.

Anyone else watching this new series?

I have checked it out and it is a pretty good series. Not as good as the original, which was a bit more raw, but this does drive the point home.

Yes, I've seen the episode U are referring to, and it is quite scary! Then, a few nights ago they showed a male prison, and it wasn't as scary as the female one!

Damn. I'd have never guessed that there were that many dude-looking females in prison.

Diabla, Pretty Boy and the one with the green eyes would own my ass for sure!

And what about that one girl whose mom went back to that same prison. Ain't that a bitch?

That first mens' episode was kind of a disappointment. The scene where the inmate was about to attack the young one was obviously staged. Even the young punk expressed as much.
