Question about storing records. I am moving out of one house and into another and I have to put everything in storage for about a month as this transition takes place. I live in the North and our temperatures range between 0-35 degrees. I have to store thousands of records and cds. Will the cold affect them in a non controlled temperature storage unit? I am trying to go the cheapest route as I need so many units but at the same time I do not want to destroy these. They will be sitting for about a month. Our weather outstide is cold and snowy. Please only serious responses please. Thanks in advance

I would think the bigger problem would be condensation when you take them out of storage.
But I'm no expert. I'm sure someone else will have the answer. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Google it. I did, but the only extreme temperature mentioned was heat. [Edited 1/25/11 11:09am]

I'm thinking that condensation could ruin the paper jacket more than anything. You may want to change the title to 'Vinyl Albums' instead of records, I was thinking of paper files and office supply. You may get your answer from the collectors here that are into vinyl albums.
