These days, Filet-O-Fish is Alaskan pollock AND New Zealand hoki.

ho carp! I agree with tyt! But it is a fish. Now you want to talk about a fish NO ONE SHOULD eat...that is the tilapia (which the farm raised ones eats catfish poop)

But anyway it is an UGLY fish? one of the uglyist fish out there is the scorpion fish and it is yummy! as is the moray eel! another fish that is very good eating that some would call ugly is the trigger fish.

Now back to the video: the only issues on can take with using the hoki is that is may be being over fished. I hope not. It is possible to lose a species (like the carrier pigeon or the Carolina parakeet were once plentiful but are now extinct.)

I'll need to back check the information about tilapia.

But I know catfish is an unclean fish in general. All catfishes eat AND drink the wastes of other sea creatures. Only oysters are dirtier than catfishes.

farmraised catfish are fed pellets. they use talipia to keep the tanks clean. So catfish are cleaner than talipia.

I believe I've eaten Taco Bell once in the last year. I usually go to Micey D's for breakfast, but I avoid the ammonia-treated burgers, and the last time I had Chicken McNuggets they tasted like cardboard. I then found out that they use special machines to extract everything they can from the chicken carcass except the bone and puree it into a pink paste.

So now it appears that I have to avoid any chicken products at fast food restaurants that aren't actual chicken parts like legs, breasts, or wings. ill barf sigh

Here's a better representation of how they process chicken carcass:

I will say this I still go to LSJ's when Im in Ohio visiting the family, been going all of my life, and the quality of product is still pretty much the same from when I was young. The problem is that they cook the chicken and the fish in the same oil, so chicken taste like fish, but why you are ordering chicken @ LJS's is beyond me. Now is it healthy, hell no but Im not eating that shit on a daily basis.

The other thing I have noticed is that living in a big city like chicago the fast food is crap no matter what the chain. But if you go to fast food in a rural setting the quality of product is much much better. A double cheeseburger with onion only at McD's in my hometown is 100 times better than anything I've eating even at the rock n roll McD's in chicago. I don't know if its more high volume or what.

My favorite fast food story was a chain in chicago named Rally's. The logo on the bag included this classic line "USDA Graded".......um graded what?

I know what you mean 100%. Which is why we don't even trifle with these fast food joints too often in Chicago. But when we go downstate near Eastern Uni, it's like a treat to go to Steak N Shake. The one up here is horrid. I hate to talk about my own city, but sometimes these city joints just don't care about the quality. They want you in, out, and ready to go. I never will forget the nasty, watery fruit smoothie I got from a McDonald's downtown. They were too busy chucking in the ice, the little bit of "fruit" and talking about me to get the job done right. Mmm. I can't say all the fast food is bad, though. There are a few mom and pop chains that are 100% amazing. Pizza Bella's, Fontano's, and Top Notch....mmmm! Good, identifiable eats. lol

End of! cool

Fine. Eat what you want. My point is...lard is not poison.

In fact, it's healthier than industrially processed fats like canola oil. shrug

How so? Lard has many times more saturated fat, maybe half as much omega 6, virtually no omega 3, and less monounsaturated fat.

Only olive oil has more monounsaturated than canola oil. Some like sunflower and soybean have more omega 6, but as far as I'm aware all are higher in saturated fat than canola.

Actually, that isn't true. As long as it isn't hydrogenated and doesn't contain preservatives, lard is a very healthy fat. geek

thumbs up!

My perception of Taco Bell is now skewed. sad Now to me they're just as bad as McDonalds. I'm thinking that all fast foods are this way now. For cheap eats, guess you get what you pay for.

This may help me to swear off them for good.

I guess that's a positive!

Salt is salt is salt. It's all the same. There are different colours, mind. And chunky or refined. It's all just salt though.

MARGARINE. I didn't know anything about canola oil.

I wouldn't have a problem with canola, since it comes from a seed (natural).

Margarine is lab-made.

Filet 'O Fish... I thought they were okay but heard something the other day that they were just as bad as the rest of MCd's food. The only good thing left from McD now is coffee...
