i did not say they would eat it... just admit it is good. I have remember when a local Mexican place stopped using lard in their food. it was noticeable. And I submit that it is better for you than vegetable fats like Crisco. As at least Lard is in natural state (melt the fat and put it in a jar) as opposed to Crisco.
Something about lard is just... I don't know, I just can't stomach anything cooked with lard.
Depending on when you were born, lard was used in lots of fast food. The ORIGINAL McDonald's french fries were cooked in beef tallow, a form of lard. That's what made them taste friggin fantastic. The fries they sell today don't come close to the originals. |

lard is pig fat, tallow is from cows. tallow is good. it is yellowish. you can see it if you cook beef in a skillet with out any seasoning. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

Yes, I know beef is from a cow. I was using this as a comparison; they are both forms of animal fat. |

Those were the days. I have no issue with beef lard being used for french flies.
But pork lard for red beans & rice at Popeye's? On hell no! That stuff is poison! |

I get beef patties at 3 am from Jamaican vendors when in New Yor, that HAS to be the real thing. I trust that! |

I'm surprised that people are surprised. All fast food got that shit.
We can all sit in front of our computers and talk about McDonald's like a dog. But yet, at least 50% of the orgers here are still going over to that same McDonald's for the breakfast menu during morning rush hour.
And beside, Burger King's breakfast menu is THE highest in sodium!
Yeah, that! |

Actually, that isn't true. As long as it isn't hydrogenated and doesn't contain preservatives, lard is a very healthy fat. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Where do you go for an excellent burger?
Local non-chain restaurants mostly.
As far as chain ones, I do like me a Red Robin burger or Five Guys.
[Edited 1/25/11 12:27pm]
Five Guys does have a decent burger. Fuddrucker's is also very good--they've just recently added bison burgers to the menu too (at least at my local one). |

I used to work for KFC back in Louisiana. And I can honestly tell you that the seasoning for the extra crispy chicken is definitely MSG-driven. I can't comment on Popeye's spicy chicken seasoning because I never work there. I believe I've eaten Taco Bell once in the last year. I usually go to Micey D's for breakfast, but I avoid the ammonia-treated burgers, and the last time I had Chicken McNuggets they tasted like cardboard. I then found out that they use special machines to extract everything they can from the chicken carcass except the bone and puree it into a pink paste.

So now it appears that I have to avoid any chicken products at fast food restaurants that aren't actual chicken parts like legs, breasts, or wings.

Fine. Eat what you want. My point is...lard is not poison.

But they didn't mention one other ingredient....SILICON DIOXIDE...(a.k.a. SAND)...as an "anti-caking" agent.

Ok literally my heart is breaking a bit. I try to avoid fast food like the plague that it is but my one guilty pleasure has always been Taco Bell. To know that I have consumed sand, among other non-edible items, is just plain depressing. It's got to be a conspiracy of sorts between the fast food corporations and the pharmaceutical companies. We are meant to consume this crap then suffer the physical consequences which can no doubt be remedied with some man made chemical/drug. I will discontinue eating Taco Bell....it will take awhile though as I've no doubt that crack is another unlisted ingredient.
I just found out that the red dye in marachino cherries stays in your body for 2 years.

THINK about it.
Yumm Brands (owner of Taco Bell) ...making huge profits (especially in recession).
Pharmaceuticals ...making huge profits.
Insurance Companies (HMOs, etc.) ...making huge profits.
Citizens ...acquiring debilitating illnesses at record rates. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

Personally, I would rather deal with something that (if consumed in EXCESS) may fatten me, than something that is created in a laboratory and only a molecule or two shy of being plastic.
