It's a Kubrick film, so it's pretty easy to come by. But, yeah, it's a good one. [Edited 1/23/11 13:50pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Wasn't it banned from UK for 30 years? Correct me if I'm wrong. I also remember reading somewhere that the author was pretty pissed at how Kubrick changed the ending of the movie(which was the complete opposite of the book, and what the author was trying to say).

I hadn't heard about the ban. But, yes, Burgess apparently had beef with the third act of the film adaptation, which I think is more along the lines of the American edit of the novel. He also thought Kubrick was an egomaniac. (Probably correct. )
It's interesting the huge liberties Kubrick took with folks' source material. Stephen King was so pissed about the film adaptation of The Shining, of course, that he set out to produce his own reworking for TV in '97. I loved Kubrick, and he was a genius, but I'm inclined to think his own appreciation of that fact was the only touchoff point to which he felt obliged in working with other people's stories. Not that I ever want to see it again, but "Skatetown, U.S.A." has a massive cult following. It's never been released on any kind of home video.
"Slaves" starring Dionne Warwick and Ossie Davis is impossible to find, as is "Sister, Sister" starring Diahann Carroll and Irene Cara.
I've been trying to find Wakefield Poole's "Bible!" and "Take One" for years. I've seen some remastered cilps of "Bible!" on YouTube, so I'm hopeful it will be made available to the public one day. I read the person who owned the rights to "Take One" had a personal grudge against Mr. Poole and has made sure it never again sees the light of day.
Though not technically a movie, the original broadway cast performance of "DreamGirls" was filmed and that little weasel David Geffen got that shyt under lock and key.

That looks VERY INTERESTING to say the least. Never heard of it until today. Just read some of the movie's Wikipedia page. Got to the parts about Al Sharpton and was reminded why I never liked the man.

Kubrick himself asked for the film to not be shown in the UK after imitation/inspired violence broke out. It was his decision.
Stephen King's version of his own novel The Shining was horrible compard to Kubrick's revision of the novel. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

The same guy also did an adaptation of "Lord of the Rings" in 1976 and this little gem, which was inspired by Vaughn Bodé´s Cheech Wizard comics. I think they wanted to collaborate but Vaughn died too early.

Even though it's not that great a film I still wish it would be released on DVD. It was released once on home video cassette in the early 80's.

Urgh! A Music War
Only available as a bootleg DVD burned from the original videocassette release. It will most likely never be officially released on DVD because of too many licensing problems.

That's interesting, because I've read that one of Burgess' complaints is that Kubrick left him to defend against accusations the story glorified violence, when Burgess' own more complete narrative was considerably more indicting of that violence and pointed toward redemption in an eschewal of it.
I never saw King's version, but everything I've heard suggests you're correct. Still, Kubrick's version butchered elements King thought to be very important. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Secret Ceremony, this movie is some crazy, wild, shit. I think you can find on VHS but it's not on DVD. It was on TCM about 6 weeks ago to my utter shock.

This is not available on DVD but it is on VHS. Amazon has it for sale at $50, but I'm not spending that for a VHS tape. I wish they would release this in DVD format because it is a fantastic movie.
