Just have to get one pair of curtain panels hemmed and this huge black and white photo canvas from IKEA and we'll be in business. nod

I took a photo from empire state building very similar to that, and looked into getting it put on a canvas. It will be cheaper for me to buy the IKEA print sigh

My room is my sanctuary.

cloud9

It has nice lighting, everything is in chocolate brown with hot pink accents, we keep it neat and nice, and it's the only kid-free zone in the house. Children are not allowed into our bedroom. There are four (FOUR!) of them, and they get enough of our time and attention. When we're in our room, we're off-duty unless someone is bleeding or dead.

I've never had a master bathroom in my life until now. I can take bubble baths without children needing to come in and pee, 'cause they have their own fuckin bathroom ! woot!

It's what you make it.

I read way too many French decorating magazines -- and I need always to be doing something so as not to go stir crazy while job hunting -- so it seems I'm gradually "Francifying" our entire flat.

In our bedroom, I put up an aged stone facing on one wall and whitewashed the others. I framed our closet with raw found wood I got (and probably technically stole, now that I think about it redface) from my childhood home when my mom sold it a few years back. I dressed the bed (also raw, unfinished wood) and windows in airy, all-white linens. I replaced our ceiling light and all hardware in the room -- doorknobs, curtain rods and tiebacks, etc. with antique-y cast iron fixtures. I put down a hand-woven rug I bought from a Persian immigrant neighbor. And I unofficially banned all electronics from the room that look like they were made, say, post 1920ish.

The room looks like something from an old Provençal inn. I love it. When it comes to decorating a bedroom, I don't think it needs to be expensive, but I do think folk should appreciate it's the place where they'll dream... and treat it accordingly.

God, my wife and kid put up with such crap! disbelief

In my room I have a queen sized four poster bed, a hutch that matches the four poster bed that I have had several offers from people wanting to buy it; an upholstered rocking chair that my paternal grandmother bought for me when I was 8 years old; a small 4-drawer dresser; a wicker 3-drawer file cabinet; a wicker 3 drawer chest (small) and a 19" "box" TV with Comcast DVR and a Sylvania combination DVD player/VHS player on top; an old victorian table that the TV sits on; two end "tables" which aren't tables at all but small 3-drawer chests that I stained and finished and a stained glass lamp on each. All I need to do is paint and get new carpet. Oh, and I keep my toaster oven in my bedroom, too. I hardly ever eat at a table anymore. I can bring my frozen pizza to my bedroom, heat it up and then eat in bed while watching TV. I'm a lazy bitch! lol

Yes, ma'am. And it was in a closet for years. When I painted this room in the orangey-red and gold colors I decided to balance all that color with iconic black and white images, then I remembered I had this poster and lo and behold her skirt and top were the same colors as the walls. Worked purrrr-fectly. love

highfive I'm all about my art girl.

My Dentist has three of them in his offices. Very consuming, I can't stop looking at all the details and see something different in them on each visit.
