I had cans thrown at me as I got off the bus each day. And that was the easy part of the bullying.

Oh yeah, the bus ride... I dreaded it every day. disbelief

  • I had a lighter put to my hair, and the kids giggled until my cousin jumped up and put out the fire. I had a "V" in the back of my hair, and I had to get it cut. When my mom went to the boy's house to confront his grandmother, she said, "Boys will be boys". confused
  • There was a group of girls who would get off at my stop and follow me down the street. It got so bad that my Dad took off work and followed the bus home without me knowing it.

Big time bullied!!!

There was this kid named Ryan Shutte...how sad that even after all these years I know his name and can see his face. Then there was my cousin Irma.

The bullying started with Ryan in about 3rd grade, he would call me flat face (I don't really have a profile) , and asked me what car did I chase to get a profile like that. He did this up until 6th grade. sad Then when we got to Jr. High, he was lost amoungst the kids that people didn't notice.

My cousin, she made my life hell up until 9th grade! She moved down the street from me at the end of 3rd grade, and I remember in 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th grade she managed to get a group of people to stop talking to me and tease me behind my back. In 4th grade she managed to get the whole class to stop talking to me for half the school year. I would just walk around alone on recess. It got so bad I started skipping school. Skipping grade school, how crazy is that?? When we got to Jr. High, she managed to get all the kids at our bus stop to tease me and call me fat. Waiting for the bus and the bus rides to school and back were HELL!!! I look back on this now and realize I was not fat, I only weighed 125 lbs, at 5'5".

My cousin's bullying has had a huge effect on how I look at myself now. Even Ryan's bullying has caused me issues. I have low self esteem, I have trouble trusting and making friends, I am always looking for something, that I have yet to figure out. I have trouble looking in the mirror, and the depression of my self body image sadly back fired and I turned to food, and made what both Ryan and Irma said come true. sad

I am 39 yrs old and I still feel the hurt they both caused me. This is why I always told my kids, NEVER tease or pick on someone. Always be nice to your fellow classmates. The phrase is wrong "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" like hell they don't. I would have rather had sticks and stones thrown at me, then to forever hear the words of "Here comes flat face" and hear barking noises as I walked by. Or forever look in the mirror and hear my cousin's words telling me how fat and ugly I am.

I hope your boys are not having to deal with this. This would sadden me greatly!

cry Moni hug

I am afraid my middle child is a potential target, he just doesn't conform in any way.

That was my thought as well.

I never was. I was always the kid in school that everyone liked.

I had selective mutism for the first 2 or so years of school (I changed schools 4 times in 3 years, so I just stopped talking and didn't bother making friends) and I don't even remember being bullied at all.

Once a girl called Karla rode her bike up to mine and I could tell she wanted to call me a name, but the best she could come up with was "SWEDEN GIRL" and I nearly fell off my bike laughing falloff that embarassed her, I never had any other trouble, despite all the things about me that made me completely different to the kids in that small country town who'd never seen foreigners before!

I wasn't bullied but I was sexually harrassed on a regular basis in elementary school. And I would get in trouble for defending myself.

Nothing major.

I've had girls that have been 'after me' at some point. lol That stupid term. Grethcen is AFTER Daniela.

Anyways, it was never anything out of control or that lasted long intervals of time.

I worry for my son. I can't place my finger on it. Its not like he looks wimpy or anything. He's a big solid boy and if he were to lay loss on somebody he could really hurt them. But I can't see him ever defending himself that way. Hes just like really sensitive. I dunno. I worry about it all the time. sad It breaks my heart what kids go through.

I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies

Yes. But that all stopped when pops finally realised the American public school system was failing his extraordinarily gifted child and coughed up the money to send me to private school. Unfortunately, the years of daily psychological abuse had already done its damage. Today...I'm a serial orger.

I did a google search on my bully from when I was 10 and surprise, surprise...

A man involved in a three-hour standoff with police at the Waikato River in Hamilton yesterday has been remanded in custody after appearing in Hamilton District Court today.

Shad Undersen, a 36-year-old farmhand, of Hamilton faced 12 charges, only one of which, wounding with intent to avoid arrest, related to yesterday's incident.

The other charges included stealing money, threatening to kill a woman and illegally possessing a firearm.

Police were called to suburban Pukete just after 8am yesterday by a woman jogger who complained a man was following her.

When an officer approached the man and attempted to take his car keys from him, he drove off, dragging the officer for 20m behind his car before it crashed into a tree.

The officer was admitted to Waikato Hospital with serious injuries and was today reported to be in a comfortable condition.

The man, wearing only track pants, then fled to nearby Waikato River, where he stood waist deep in water and waved sticks at police while they tried to negotiate with him.

The threat of being shot by a taser, choppered in from Auckland because there was not one available in Hamilton, convinced him to surrender.

I knew this guy was going to prison when we were both 9.

My best friend has the girl who used to TORTURE us with her friends in jr, high and high school on his FB page.

We are in our 40s, but when I saw her picture on his page I called him and asked him WTF?! eyepop

He told me that she had seen him on someone else's page, so she wrote to him and apologized for the things she said and did to him during that time... (he didn't come out until we were 26, plus he was a puny asthmatic kid).

She explained about her home life and how angry she was. They corresponded and worked it out.

As an adult and a special ed teacher who deals with kids with emotional problems, I understand what she went through.

But as soon as I saw her picture, I couldn't help but remember the ass-kickings, name-calling, and taunting I suffered at the hands of her "crew". cry

I'm glad that J could work it out with her, though.

I was teased, definitely....glasses, overbite, funny name, smart....definitely affected me. but seeing as I have a bad temper too, I wasn't overly bullied, because I think folk knew if they pushed me too far I would end up cutting a bitch!! I did have a few chicks threatened to meet me after school. I used to get all happy, waiting out front the school, ready to release some tension and anger and shit, asking everyone passing by "where's so and so?", bitches would never show up!! hmph!

Had a few chicks try to talk smack about me and whatever in the bathroom or whatever....I do remember jumping up in quite a few chicks asses. I think they thought I was this nerd girl who was passive and shit, because usually I would be quiet, but once you got cussed out by me it was a fucking wrap for you. Definitely no one threw anything at me or nothing like that. And it didn't matter to me, boys, big bitches, whatever, once you made me mad, it was done for you and if you wanted a fight you were going to get one. I did have one boy try to fight me in like junior high and I ended up putting his ass in a headlock and shit.

Now that I'm older people tell me I'm very intimidating when I'm angry.....and they should be intimidated. I think if a person got me angry enough I could definitely go beserk and maybe even try to kill them. Used to dream about taking folk and banging their heads against walls.....disbelief

I don't think I really bullied anyone, but I'm sure there would be folk who see the past through their own rose colored glasses....

It happened because I was smart and people also knew that I would not fight. I was bullied all through grammar and high school. Some of my bullies have reached out to me since then but I refuse to forgive them. They can go fuck themselves. They ruined grammar school and high school for me at a time where I was already a fucked up kid.

hug I'm sorry to hear that those kids do that to you, and I emphathize with you completely. I went through the exact thing all the way through elementary and high school. It really messes a person up inside.

I was never one made to take no one's shit, but the teasing shit used to irk me. But it definitely made me a person who speaks up, which probably gets me in a lot of trouble because the adult bullying that happens in the world (because it doesn't really change, just gets a bit more subtle and affects your pay and whatnot) I still don't like to put up with no one's shit and I will say so!

And for sure I have self esteem issues from it....sad

And it's probably why I dislike stupid people immensely too and am all antisocial.

even though I've been talking about getting bullied, I would fight back sometimes if I was able to, but it was hard

this one girl would harass me so I would hit her a lot

one time this other one kept bugging me all day, she was really a bully and she would come up behind me. One time I felt her near my head, she was going to give the finger she admitted later, but I thought she would hit my head or punch it, I turned around and slapped her hard and she grabbed my throat and gave me a scar with her nail and we were pushing each other around and sent to the office. We both got off with a warning and a phone call home, and I had said I did it for self defense. They said next time it could lead to suspension. It happened again towards the end of the year and she got suspended cause I was out in the hallway with permission doing something and she came out of class without permission to harass me and wasn't stopping, and I got a warning and phone call home because I was swearing loudly and kids may have heard. She found me on facebook years ago though and apologized for everything, saying she has kids of her own now and realizes how cruel they can be. And she was saying she really hated where she lived before and is happier living in a small town.
