"That's No Way To Tell A Lie"

Situation: You find out by accident that somebody spoke to another person (for example ex, teenage crush, exwife) and when you ask about it to see if she/he will lie, the answer is "no".

How would you feel about it? Would you lost all the faith because of this thing or would you take it as "I don't want to hurt you" kind of lie?

What's your experience with lies?

I hate being lied to, unless, of course, it's a white lie. But the more serious lying bugs the hell out of me.

Me too! Do you think in this situation it's a white lie or not?

I don't think it's a white lie for someone to talk to an ex and deny it. I wouldn't be jealous if someone talked to an ex and I probably wouldn't even care, so lying about it would be what bothered me, not the act of talking.

This might sound a little bit silly, but..if it was just a birthday message, not talking to ex?

That denying in this case bothers me too. I'm honest and I expect the same thing to get from the others.

i think in your case, honesty is relative to what you know.....instead of what is known...........smile

By the way, this has never happened. I'm just thinking about my friends situations and their problems. I've been wondering what would I do in their place.

I agree. When I asked my friend about how she looked when she lied, he said "she looked a little bit guilty for milisecond, then she smiled".

It's hard to say. I don't know all the details, so I definitely can't say I know someone else's situation, but to me, it seems more immature than anything. That would be the red flag for me.

I would not lose all faith, but I would have to wonder why that person wasn't honest about it. Assuming my means of finding out were not questionable (and if iy was an accident then they wouldn't be) then I would probably bring it up.

Had they just said "Yeah, we spoke". No problem.
