In regards to what you've posted, it's interesting. I'm paying attention to it. What matters to me now is A) Does it continue? B) Does it become cyclical? C) Is it a one time set of strange coincidences. As much as I believe that we are seriously harming the Earth, I'm still pretty sure the answer is C. And I don't believe in "the end of times" and "new world orders" or any of that other nonsense, so that plays no part in the discussion for me.

this is startling and alarming, but we probably take more fish than all that combined

out of the sea on a daily basis, a large percentage of which is not even going to be

consumed, but ends up on landfills when it isn't sold on the daily markets/auctions.

same thing goes for poultry, bread and vegetables. if you'd put all of the things we

kill for consumption on a daily basis on one big heap, no one would believe it. you'd

think the earth had 2 weeks left, tops.

these recent events are worrying and sad but they're nothing compared to what we

as a species have been doing daily for at least the last 30 years.

we'll no doubt destroy the eco system of earth to a degree where it will be able to

rebalance itself over a long period of time. but problems will arise with regards to

feeding the billions and billions of people there are now. perhaps not in our lifetime,

but it will become a problem one day.

If all the plants die, we die, animals die. Even if all the plants died and we had figured out a way to grow enough of them to create oxygen (very unlikely) and feed people, MOST of us die, nearly all herbivorous and granivorous animals die, because growing their food would not be a priority. Omonivorous and carnivorous animals would live off the dead people and animals for a time, then eat each other and (most likely) become very aggressive towards the remaining humans. I do believe that we would find away to process nearly all organic matter into a food source, though. Even dead/rotting plant matter, and possibly dead animal matter (such as bones).

Synthesis of food without some kind or organic matter as it's base is VERY unlikely.

If all the animals die, no worries. We'll eat the plants.
