Anyone seen True Grit? A Cohen bros. flick. Looks pretty good. If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.

Yeah I saw it...well at least the parts of it while I was awake. It wasn't holding my attention. Since The Big Lebowski is my fav movie (same lead actor and directors), I figured I would check this out even though I'm not into westerns & cowboy movies. Like those still waiting for P to do the next Purple Rain or SOTT, I guess I keep holding out hope that the Cohens will do another Lebowski, Fargo or Raising Arizona.

They're hit and miss for me more than some of their diehard fans, but I think O Brother, Where Art Thou?, No Country For Old Men and A Serious Man are as good as anything they've ever done. Haven't seen True Grit yet.

I know how it's spelled. I looked 'em up on IMDb to list the films in my post up above. I just didn't notice it was misspelled a bunch of times in the thread. Probably because it reads the same way in my head as the correct spelling.

Man, that brand name has a lot of people watching a western that they probably wouldn't even notice if you took off "Coen".
And from what I I'm told (haven't seen it yet, but I really liked "A Serious Man" a lot) it really doesn't have their particular stamp of style. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Just saw it. Loved it. I was so thrilled to see Barry Pepper again.

Saw it and loved nearly every minute of it. The cave/snake bite scene had a bit of cheese to it. Otherwise I thought it was a near perfect film. Totally flew by - didn't expect it to be ending until the epilogue started. It's really nothing like any other Coen Bros film. It's really just a completely straight western. Simple camera shots, simple sets, nice open scenery, awesome dialogue and line readings from all the actors. I LOOOOOOOVE that they use very few contractions and speak formally (other than Rooster, he doesn't do so quite as much ). Highly recommend seeing this ASAP.
Vendetta (I still want to call you a different name ), I was looking for Barry Pepper because of your mention. Glad to see him, but I thought he'd be in the film more.

I'm not a Coen bros. fan at all, but I really liked this movie. Most likely because it was atypical of their usual style. Excellent cinematography.

I didn't think too much about it.Hadn't seen the original so I didn't know what to expect.I found it quite boring and I thought the ending was kinda crappy.Would give it 5/10.
