My mom flat out told my younger brother and I that there was no Santa because she wanted us to know that she used her hard earned $ to buy our gifts, not some guy in a red suit w/ a beard. lol

I don't remember exactly when it happened, but I imagine one of my siblings told me.

I just clicked when I was about 6 that it was just not possible and I had been had. Didn't let on for a while though. The same thought process made me realise there was no eater bunny, tooth fairy or god (who followed a bit later) I was late with god as so many seemingly responsiblel and intelligent adults seemed to be genuinly convinced.

Okay, now I'm mad there's no "eater bunny"!! wink

Always knew it was a story, because I was taught that. The same with the easter bunny or the tooth fairy too. I still got surprised at christmas with all the trimmings, had pictures with the mall santas growing up, still got the surprise easter basket at the foot of my bed, went on easter egg hunts and still hid my tooth under the pillow and got a dollar. All knowing exactly where it came from. My father even sat down with me and told me about the real person santa was patterned after. He never wanted me to be as disappointed as his sister was when she was found out. I appreciate that to this day.
