Creating a Business Account on Facebook... that is separate from your personal acount.
Anyone do this? For obvious reasons I am not interested in business associates reading my every stupid thought.
Also, what if I quit my job? I'd like the business to continue to have a Facebook account without having my personal login info.
So what do you do, create duplicate personal accounts? I am researching this, but have not gotten a good answer. It seems you can be kicked off of facebook for having multiple accounts. |

Will your co-workers think you are unfriendly or secretive if you don't let them see your Facebook page?
If the second account is purely for networking purposes, why not use LinkedIn? |

^^ I don't have an account with either so maybe the answers to my questions are obvious to everyone except me. |

yeah I agree. I am totally uninterested in liking my shampoo's page on facebook
But people such as our board members are asking me if we are on facebook. I figure it can't hurt, and it will help me personally if I do what my bosses want. |

It's more an issue that it is not my company. I would rather the company be it's own facebook entity, not dependant on my passwords & personal connection.
I am on linkedin, but that seems personal, too. Plus, facebook is bigger. |

Ah, I see. And I'm guessing there isn't any general company info that can be used when making this new account, it has to be tied to one specific person, yes?
I promise in the future to not post in threads about topics I know nothing about. |

I would. I'm sure a couple of accounts would be ok - Some .orgers have 2 accounts. Maybe you should link it to a different email account than your other facebook account...

I have a separate business one, although I didn't create it at first for that purpose specifically. I recommend it. |

Don't do that! It's important that we continue to corrupt the threads that say "Ladies: Do You..."
And yes, as far as I know it has to be tied to a personal account, and you're not supposed to have to of them. But I know many people do have multiple accounts. I'm not sure if you can use the same name & different email addresses, though. |

Yeah. I have a professional/work email that I use every day, so I used that, and then my personal email address goes with my personal FB account. It was a good thing for me, because the person I work for on that business email (as a freelancer) is someone I want to see a professional side of me, not the goofy/stupid idiot I am on my regular Facebook. So I have one that is professionally oriented and related to this one specific area of my professional life and another to be stupid on.

Do your personal ones both have the same names? |

Yep. Some people have found me because of that, but not many. If they do, I usually just either tell them the truth about keeping the accounts separate, or else I say, "Oh, I'm phasing that one out because [insert generic reason here]" and they're usually okay with that. |

ah, that seems to be the answer! thanks
although, it seems to require creating a second personal account
[Edited 1/13/11 14:39pm]
oops, misread post.
I have one for my online business as well:
http://www.facebook.com/p...6726743576
I'm not sure if these are considered the same as the Business Pages in the link Only provided, but I didn't have to create any extra accounts. I manage both pages from my personal account (and you can add admins, if you have someone that works with you, Positivity is co-admin on my biz pages) and they stay separate (only my friends see my personal page).

If you run your own business, a "fan" page or a group is a good option.

Yes, I guess that is a workaround, too.
My band has a page (started by our drummer) that I do not need to log into seperately because he made me an admin
but I guess I have accomplished what I set out to do....

I don't know who he is. I guess he likes my work.
That's whole point of fan/biz pages. You don't have to know the people who follow you.
Tho you hope to know them just enough at some point to do business with them. |

I "liked" the page (I was the first ), but then "unliked" it because I don't know if you want to keep it to only clients. I'll be happy to "like" it again and "suggest" it so that folk I know in the area might see it. [Edited 1/13/11 16:29pm] |

Re-liked (still first ) and sent out suggestion but fb decided to act dumb, so I can't really tell if the suggestion went out or not, so anyone who's reading this and is my fb friend, let me know if they got one. otherwise will send out again. |
