Well I should hope so.
Human relationships are weird and complicated no matter where they're started; be they casual, platonic or sexual. Just roll with it (or make it roll) and see what happens.

Like reality doesn't regularly spoil reality. Ya know? Not to get too cliche with it, but I'd rather try and fail than never try and regret it.
And I like all their parts.

Internet friendship is cool with me.
What's the difference if you meet a new person online, or if you meet a person through other people, or randomly? There is just as much potential for someone to be batshit crazy in person as well as online, so I don't see a whole lot of difference.
As a matter of fact, sometimes I'd go as far to say that if you speak with someone on a forum, you have a little more backround information via their posts/thoughts on things than if you're having a coffee meeting with a complete stranger.

I agree with this. I feel more comfortable with people on here than I do with some people I am only slightly acquainted with in real life.

I have met people on here by chatting everyday, and I consider them "friends" and would like to meet them in person. Some of the ones I've met in person have become actual friends.

Re: your last point, I feel the same way.
I had a conversation with Chris about this once. We were wondering why we sometimes seem to "click" so much better with Org friends (when we hang out with them in person) than we seem to with some of our "IRL" friends.
I said I thought it was because relationships and friendships that develop on a forum like this often have a certain depth to them, because many of us are so open on such a variety of topics and issues, and check in so regularly over a period of years that we become intimately acquainted with each other's lives. In a sense, we choose our online friends out of a huge global sea of people that we'd never get to choose from in our daily lives otherwise. And we choose them not because they look cute, or sit next to us at work, or are the spouse of your spouse's best friend, or any of the superficial or situational reasons that many relationships are based on. We choose our online friends based on the content of what they have to say. That's really cool to me. I love the people here because we make each other laugh, respect each other's opinions, are fans of the same music, speak the same language, share inside jokes and thought-provoking discussions, support each other through hard times, have even watched each other's children grow.
I love teh interwebs. | |

*snif* That's beautiful... except for the children part. Nah, seriously. Very well said.

There's a few people I would like to meet. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I pretty much consider everyone I regularly talk to on here someone I might potentially meet in person.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
So you're saying that you hate Chris' best friend's spouse?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The only internet-only friends I have are on the org. There are a few I would like to meet in person.

I like internet friendships. I love meeting new people....especially on here.
As far as having relationships go....I'm better off with people I meet face to face. Forget internet relationships...waste of time and effort.
