Anybody watch Batm--I mean The Cape last night? Framed in a hood like the Red Hood.
Magical/technical cape like Spawn/Bruce.
Cop by day like Dick Grayson.
Tech support girl like Barbara Gordon.
Girl fights like Huntress.
Trained by circus folk like Dick.
Circus folk rob banks like Joker 'nem.
Fights a dude with Scales like Killer Croc.
And a dude who specializes in poison like Ivy and knives like Zsasz.
Am I missing any similarities? |

I didn't see it, but my brother is a Batman nut and he is OUTRAGED by this new show. The premise and look of the show did seem very much rehash, when I first got wind of it. [Edited 1/10/11 6:58am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

its a superhero show for regular tv types
it has to have familiar elements to succeed
I thought it was ok
they tried to pack a lil too much into a 2hr premiere
seemed rushed in places, but it was entertaining enough
How is it you feel? |

as a comic book guy, I boycott all these superhero shows that network TV is trying to capitilize on. They know that I'm their key demographic so they give me LAME ass stories to try and get me to watch their bullshit advertising.

I read Peter David's run on Incredible Hulk, I'm no dummy!!

I think it's on NBC. When PMB pointed out it was on tonight, I programmed my DVR for it. I like superhero stuff, so I'll give it a chance.
Summer Glau was in the Terminator TV show. She is barely believable as a robot, let alone a human being. |

I wathced her on Firefly & Dollhouse, where she played people with limited emotions. |

She's carved quite an acting niche for herself.
I'll grant you that she looks quite pretty. |

Crap. I missed it, too. Totally meant to give it a try. I think I was watching all the Showtime season premiers instead.
I thought Summer was great on Firefly, but I haven't like her in anything since. I also think she's not aging well. She was more attractive when she was younger. |

I don't know, I saw her on Chuck and she looked great. Maybe a bit more like a cookie cutter hottie, but damn hot. |

You can catch it tonight if you want.
I forgot to watch all the Showtime shows. I don't get Showtime, but it was a free preview weekend and I should have watched.
I did watch Shameless, because I got a screener of the first three episodes. It might be my favorite new show. I might need to add Showtime just for that show. |

I just did an image search for her and... I don't know. Sometimes she looks really hot, but sometimes just looks... odd. I'm just a giant Firefly geek, so I'm probably not allowing myself to process how she looks now as openly as I should.

Shameless was my favorite of the night. I didn't get into Californication until last season, at which time I did a series catch up marathon. It seems like each season of that show starts a little slow and builds into what and how Hank is going to screw up this time. Last night felt very much the same. Episodes was very disappointing for me. Felt too much like it was trying to enter the land of Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development, only it was nearly as good as ANY of them. I didn't like it at all. I probably won't watch it again. Shameless, on the other hand, was great! I would have loved to be able to watch two more episodes immediately. |

no you're right, she is odd looking. But hot. Maybe Joss Whedon has an eye for that

The next two episodes maintain the quality of the first. Maybe exceed it, even. I found myself laughing hysterically at it, then feeling touched. That's a nice quality in a TV show.
Pretty people who aren't afraid of onscreen nudity don't hurt either. But mostly it was the good writing and acting that I enjoyed. Mostly.

Pretty people who aren't afraid of onscreen nudity don't hurt at all, IF the writing and acting is worth the time. That's why I couldn't get into Californication at first. It just seemed like pointless nudity. People kept telling me it got better, though, so I gave it another chance. It definitely did.
I set a series recording for Shameless last night. So I'll be sticking with that one for a while. |
