The ice was so bad this morning you couldn't even walk, let alone drive! I still have my snow paraphernalia from living in Minnesota. Remote start on my car made it easy to clean off the ice.

I did forget to buy salt for the walkway though : blush:

It's pretty sad how many car accidents there were...gotta respect the weather! People just act the fool down here :smh:

I just saw that on Boston's news, Carrie. We're supposed to get hit with that same storm system, but we'll only get 4-6 inches near Lake Ontario over the next few days, and about 2-3 farther north in the city.

Stay warm!

I got food, booze, on demand, netflix, my boy and my dog. I think everything will be A-ok!

Just read an article about how only 1000 people showed up to the Charlotte Bobcats game last night because of the snow and then ice storms. You could hear the ball bounces echo and they warned the choaches and players to watch their language because it would be easily heard. lol

How many inches are on the ground? You OK, Graycap?

4 inches but it turned 2 ice. A big mess as they have shut down the major freeways.

I'm about 2 go make some music 4 the mood................

Wow, NYC is bracing for another storm starting tonight. Suppose to be as much as 20 inches further out. Don't know how much is expected within the city (5 boroughs), but if it's anything like the last one about 2 weeks ago, it will be a mess. Hopefully this time they'll be more prepared with snow plows, than they were before. You go ahead and make some good music and drink some hot chocolate and stay warm!

disbelief This is part of the reason I wasn't entertaining coming to NYC to see P. I would be TOO pissed if my flight got cancelled due to weather and I lost $$ on tix and hotel room. pissed

It's not that Southerners are snow spooked but what the hell can you do when the cities

aren't equipped for proper cleanup. Trust me it's no damn fun ice skating in a SUV. lol

We started out in Northeast PA in the mountains with tons of snow every winter. Even here in the DC area (I guess technically south, tho barely) it's a mess everytime there's snow. Folk don't even know to put the damn plow all the way down to the ground. Like, wtf, you just fannin the snow?? confused

But folk here drive a damn mess. Even if it just sprinkles (rain, not even snow) there's pile ups on the beltway. neutral

Keep safe down there y'all.

Nope. I'm glad I have an suv with all wheel 4 wheel drive cool

But for people who normally don't get snow or not much of it, it does wreck havoc for those not used to driving in it.

I'm having serious cabin fever..... mad The grocery stores are empty, and my neighborhood is eerily quiet.

I live at the top of a hill, and I love to see the brave fools who think because they are from up North they can handle the icy driving conditions. My neighbor, who is from Brooklyn, tried to drive his "traction controlled" minivan up the hill and kept sliding.....fail. lol

Went to walmart just now and it was dead. People getting pulled over, one dude had a sheet of ice on his back windshield...dumbass. I crunched me out a path to my car and rain-xedit. Rock salt is sold out!

My dog looked at the ice like WTF? Lol, he walked under the deck and pissed in the garden, refusing to walk on the ice! I had to clean steps for his prissy ass.

But remember that they are just not used to it. It's like when Canadians get their first snowfall of the year....we forget how to deal with it at first. lol

But of course, we adapt again. But I'm refusing to get snow tires yet again this year. hmph!

We finally broke down and got some this year. I don't know why, but something about this winter has spooked us.

To be honest this is why I hate the beginning of any year, the first two or three months you have nothing but snow and ice. Hell we got it before Christmas but we weren't snowed in (thank God). It's pleasant to have snow but not ice. Ice will turn the power off especially if ice is as deep as I'm hearing it is in the ATL. After March, things calm down. lol

There was no way in hell people were gonna travel John Belk Freeway and Brookshire

Freeway to get to that game. There were already a good bit of accidents out there.

It was Ice City out there.

There was snowfall here in Arkansas this past Sunday. But the aftermath on Monday was a royal pain for me because my small car has front-wheel drive AND (being from Louisiana) I'm not that good driving on the snow AND ice like I should be. disbelief

There are several inches of snow in northern Mississippi but we dodged it here in central Mississippi. However, we did get the ice which came overnight Sunday night and shut us all down until around noon time on Monday. Tonight, it's like 18 degrees and cold as hell.

Exactly. We love the snow because we very rarely get it. Whenever there's even a slight chance of snow, everyone gets all excited. Hell, it doesn't even have to stick to the ground. If we just look out our window and see a few snow flakes falling, we get so excited you would think Prince was coming to town or something. Snow is that rare down here. lol

Since snow is so rare down here, it would be silly for the cities to spend money on equipment that removes snow and ice from the roads because the equipment would be so rarely used, it would be a waste of money. That means that on the rare occassions that we do get snow and ice, we just have to stay home from work because it's too dangerous to drive. Oh well....a day off from work is fine with me. lol The only thing I hate is standing in long lines at the grocery store beforehand stocking up on food in case you get stuck in the house and I really hate it if the power goes out. Hell, what's the use of being home from work if you don't have any electricity to enjoy yourself? And I'm the type of person that can't stand silence. I have to have some type of noise around me or I will be bored out of my mind. lol

You don't have to wait until the spring for tornadoes anymore. This is the craziest damned weather I've ever seen. Snow flurries for about an hour on Christmas day, temperatures in the 70s the week after Christmas, six tornadoes on New Year's Eve (one in which I barely escaped), an ice storm the following week, and now 18 degree temperatures. What's next, a hurricane? lol

They still got it on lockdown where I am. It should start melting good today. Even though I'm used to snow and ice, I refuse to get on the roads with idiots that can't even drive when it's sunny, warm, and dry! I had a job once that refused to close, and as I'm making my way to work, some fool tried to drive fast because he figured he had a pickup truck so he was good. As I gave him the side-eye, and hugged the left lane so I could escape if necessary, sho'nuff he spun out and slid. There were 3 Mack trucks right behind him too. He hauled his dumbass to the side of the road quick!

I got to work, where the only other employee that made it was the stinky no personality chick that should've been fired, saw 1 customer, called the district manager and TOLD her it was unsafe and stupid to open places for $20 worth of business, and that I could've been killed by that fool on the road, that my one employee was a fool too, and I was closing up and going home. And I was saying it as a person who learned to drive in Minnesota, and drove in New York and Massachussetts during those winter storms of 2000-2001, and I was scurred of Southern winter driving! It's not worth it, and they need to shut down because people were smashing up whips left and right with foolishness.
