I need song-suggestions for a charity concert!

A couple of days ago I had to think about how much it would mean to my little brother for me to be there on christmas-eve, as he lives in another country and really misses me. Then I started to think about all the other kids who couldn't spend that evening with their parents (no matter if or how they celebrate that day). So I thought I'd use that I'm quite popular in my homecountry at the moment (because of that TV talent show) to try to find a way to reach at least some of them in my area and make them a bit more happy at least. That's why I'll be giving a small, intimate concert for kids who are sick and have to stay at hospital over christmas in some hospitals in my area, either on christmas eve or the days before.

The only thing is, I'm not sure what to play yet. I'm looking for songs that are popular with everyone (as I'll be playing for little kids up to 18-year-old teenagers). I do not only want to focus on the fact that it's christmas, but also want to capture the feeling a bit without making them feel melancholic. It will probably be an all acoustic setlist.

I would really like to listen to suggestions about which songs to put into my setlist!

That's a really wonderful thing to do!

The first song that popped into my head was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz", but that's a rather meloncholy song.

I'm firmly planted in denial

Yes, I wanted to include that too. It is a bit melancholic, but I think it has a nice sing-along tune that everybody knows and might be nice for that period...

Man, that is AWESOME. Best of luck!

If Santa Claus is coming to town, then I'd go with "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". You can even bring out a Santa (your little bro, perhaps?) and pass out gifts to the kids!

The chords, if you're interested:

That's a lovely gesture, Dave. I'm sure they'll love it.
How about doing some of the stuff you performed on the show?

Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
