..and I'll stay honest. I've seen pictures of you with no piercing, you were very pretty girl. But now it's just like someone else. I know you like how you look - no problem with that, you shouldn't be cared about what other people think of you. I just wanted to tell you that Mr.Zaza would date with your "old and unpierced-self", but not with your...umm..how to put that into words..but not with your very original look lol I hope it doesn't sound cruel hug

Obscene? Hell no, not even close. Seeing as you have tatts and piercings, it's slightly against type to have long nails but you are you and there's nothing wrong with that. It's mighty presumptuous of some to comment on your hands but as long as they don't touch you, ignore them.

Regarding the nails..dont like how they curve and how thick they are.....I certainly wouldn't rock 'em but....thats why they are on your hands not mine......as for being a freak....you are clearly comfortable with who you are and dont care about the opnions of others, wont stop us from commenting.....but good for you anyway.

I could be a freak too..its just that my freakiness (at least freaky to some not neccssarily to me, different I would say) is on the inside not outside and I love the reaction I get sometimes from folks when they find out the things I'm into or hear some of the things I say cause I look like such a "good girl"...... "Wow cant believe your into that...you dont like the type at all".

White, black, puerto-rican everybody just a freakin' right.....wink

For some reason a lot of people have that impression of women with a lot of tattoos and piercings. I've seen it discussed at the Suicide Girls website many times. Always seemed strange to me that someone would make that assumption based on some ink and metal. shrug

Aaaaanyway...

Since you've posted pics of them, I think the shorter nails looks better. nod

You have purposely made yourself irreversibly ugly. I don't understand it, most women will do anything to try and look good.

I can totally get behind dressing differently, I like to wear extravagant fashion on occasion, but this is an example of overdoing it imo.

lol It's funny how people care enough about how someone looks to give them titles. To this day, nothing is more freaky looking to me than uniforms, which is sad considering I went to private school my whole life. Nothing creepier than a whole bunch of people dressed in the same outfit....can never join any military branch; I just can't do it; I just can't. disbelief I used to go out of my way to make myself look different from all my classmates in some way (used to always wear bright nail polish, lots of jewelry, and lots of hoodies). Didn't care about standing out, just didn't want to look like everybody else because that's just....weird. I commend 'freaks' and 'rebels' for finding their own individuality because there isn't anything normal or sane about looking like everybody else. giggle

amen to that. i went to catholic school for the first 3 yrs. they kicked me out telling my parents i need ritalin cause i couldn't sit still. i was only in special ed one year but they outcasted me after that for riding the small bus!! but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. i'd love to go kick all their asses now being they'd be afraid of me now. shit the most ritalin i was on was 10mg the dose for a 5 yr old!! that shit made you look like a damn skeleton and i would consider that a big factor in all my medicial issues now.

That's bullshit. Kids are just active so why they want to medicate children for being children is ridiculous to me. It made u a stronger person in the end so it wasn't all bad, I guess nod I went to catholic school from pre-school to 5th grade and then went to a less strict non-denominational, very small private school. My graduating class only had 19 people which I loved because I knew everybody...don't envy all those who graduated in classes of 300+ one bit. I was quiet...a total 180 from who I am now; but that's because I liked observing people and didn't really care about fitting in with the crowd. There was always that expression, "There are the kids who r inside looking out and the kids who r outside looking in." I used to always add, 'And the kids outside who don't care about either of those two groups because they are having a blast on their own terms and don't care what anyone thinks about them'...yeah, that was my group. nod If I went to my high school reunion now, they would all be like omg . It would just b 2 funny. falloff

well it's the longest they ever been. i got laid off in oct 2009 so probably stopped cutting soon after that..i can't remember really.maybe summer of 2010?

why would nails effect wiping my ass? thats funny. i don't get why ppl think that.

only think they effect is changing earrings. god forbid i lose a bead in a captive bead ring...

i used to sell jewelry at a dept store and i'd get ladies with ones triple the length of these...i feel funny without them. i just got such long thin fingers i think it's weird not having long nails....

its the only girly thing about me really batting eyes

[Edited 1/8/11 1:14am]

how can they not effect wiping your ass? why do people think that? cause we all wipe our ass holding toilet paper with our fingers..... I don't personally think they look good...but to each their own. I also don't think you're "protecting" your real nail either...If anything I think you're probably ruining your real nails underneath.

However, pretty much everytime someone puts any kind of effort into not looking "normal" or "like everybody else" they just look like everybody else who's trying to not look "normal". lol

I'll reference Purplemookie's look (since it's the topic of this thread). Regardless of what anyone may think of it, good, bad or indifferent, sets her apart from one group and makes her look the same as another. It's just a different type of conforming. shrug

nod Everyone indeed does take some thought into what they look like, even these people lol :

I agree with you on this above point . To this day, whenever I see goth kids and designer chicks there is never a doubt in my mind that they both probably take equal amounts of time to prepare their looks before leaving the house. What makes them nothing alike is that one is more accepted by society and the other is oftentimes more shunned. There are people who take hours to prep a look and they look like they got dressed in the dark, don't own any mirrors, and have no friends to tell them how they look before getting into the car. Then, there are people who can throw on anything in 5 minutes and make it look amazing because they don't care what people think about them only how they feel about themselves. Both individuals may have lots of confidence but high self-esteem doesn't make them alike at all.

I wouldn't call it conforming because it's not largely accepted by the majority, which is what conformity technically is. Comformity = "action in accord with prevailing social standards, attitudes, practices"; or, "compliance or acquiescence; obedience"...the whole discussion started out with someone referring to her nails as being 'obscene' so she's not conforming at all according to the true definition of the word.

What exactly is normal? The word 'normal' to me lacks any true definition, just like the word 'perfect'. I live by the Salvador Dali's quote, "Strive not for perfection; you'll never reach it." 'Normal' and 'perfection' don't really exist like people think they do. They only remain relevant because of people's personal preferences and what they were taught by others around them.

Based on personal life experiences, I would rather be in a room full of tattooed and pierced people than in a room full of people in designer clothes and 3-piece suits. I've actually met more pleasant, interesting tattooed people than people wearing thousand dollar outfits (many of them didn't have but $100 in their bank accounts might I add lol). There are really only two types of outfits: a good outfit or a bad outfit. With tattooed people, there are good tattoos and bad tattoos; but, there are also thousands of different types of designs, styles, colors, and stories so the only way they are alike is that they fit into the group labeled 'tattooed people'. At the end of the day, a look is still a look but judging anyone based more on their outward appearance than who they are on the inside just means that you may end up missing out on knowing a truly great and amazing person. Personality is the only thing that truly makes us different. Our outer shells are just an added bonus. All just my twocents biggrin

When I say conform I'm not referring to numbers (though that is relative as well). I'm referring to fitting in and wanting to within a group where one feels most comfortable/accepted. We are all guilty of that (I shouldn't even really use the word "guilty" because I don't think that's a bad thing).

Based on personal life experience, I'd rather hang with some finely dressed folk one day, then with a group of tattooed pierced folk the next. But better yet, I rather have them ALL over for a party at my house. lol

That would be awesome! I'd soo love to attend a party like that. People can truly surprise you so you never know. When the music starts, ties, fake eyelashes, and piercings may start flying during the dancing frenzy. dancing jig Unfortunately for me, I love being by myself so I don't ever really feel 100% comfortable in any type of group. Large crowds kinda freak me out no matter what they are wearing or how they look. If there is music involved in the gathering, I'm usually fine because it's my saftey buffer giggle . My aversion to crowds seems to make it easier for me to hang out with almost anybody. I usually can gauge whether I like or dislike someone after the first hour or so of interacting with them.

We had a motley crew (not the band lol ) of Prince fans hang out after the 12/18 MSG show. We didn't look like we would fit together, but oh, boy did we ever; and I love all of them bunches now....mookie was there. Looks can be soo deceiving. nod BTW, when's the party? giggle wink

nod Everyone indeed does take some thought into what they look like, even these people lol :

That would be awesome! I'd soo love to attend a party like that. People can truly surprise you so you never know. When the music starts, ties, fake eyelashes, and piercings may start flying during the dancing frenzy. Unfortunately for me, I love being by myself so I don't ever really feel 100% comfortable in any type of group. Large crowds kinda freak me out no matter what they are wearing or how they look. If there is music envolved in the gathering, I'm usually fine because it's my saftey buffer giggle . It's not a terrible thing though because I can hang out with almost anybody and gauge whether I like them or not after the first hour or so.

We had a motley crew (not the band lol ) of Prince fans hang out after the 12/18 MSG show. We didn't look like we would fit together, but oh, boy did we ever; and I love all of them bunches now....mookie was there. Looks can be soo deceiving. nod BTW, when's the party? giggle wink

Im sorry, I'm just envisioning that and...lol

Dance until yo lashes fall off, girl! dancing jig Lol! I went to a house party once where it was all calm and everyone was just talking and hanging out with no alcohol in sight; and, then the music started and all hell broke loose. It was a random house party and I saw a naked penis before it was all over...that's all I'm going to say about that. Aww, college. giggle
