It was pretty cool.
First time for me. I've been in south florida long enough to have seen too many launches, but today I finally saw one.

Actual photo:

of course where I was sitting it was just a little dot and a steam of smoke.

Apparently my office had a good view.

I heard several people say that they just coudn't bring themselves to watch another launch after what happened to the Challenger.

The line in sign o' the times came to mind.

Now that I think about it.

Everyone post what, when and where were you when the Challenger exploded.

It will be like our "Kennedy experience" seeing how most of us wasn't around when that happened.

On January 28, 1986 America was shocked by the destruction of the space shuttle Challenger, and the death of its seven crew members.

I remember it being a "snow day" when I lived in Tennessee. We were all sleading down the hill on garbage bags that morning.

After a few hours, we were pretty cold and wet. My brother and I were pretty far from our house and didn't want to walk back up the hill just yet.

We went to a friends house and he had one of those coal burning stove heaters where we could stand while our clothes were in the dryer.

My friend turned the T.V. on and turned it to the news. There was a lot of media coverage of this I think at the time because of Christa McAuliffe being the first teacher in space.

Then we saw this.

No one was really sure at the momment what happened. I remember Dan Rathers talking about it at the momment. We stayed glued to the T.V. for hours. Everyone was pretty quiet.

I also remember going back to school the next day and everyone with those lame jokes about Christa McAuliffe using head and shoulders shampoo and other crap like that. Who makes these jokes up over tragedies like this?

So what do you guys remember?

I was in elementary school...4th grade I think. We were too young to really think about it. We knew a shuttle exploded but it didn't have as much impact on us as it did others.

That's cool you got to see that this morning yamomma!
