Hell naw. My mama wasn't no fool. She picked her own switches and so did my grandmother.

I was in the tub and she had told me several times through the door to stop splashing that damn water all over the floor. I just ignored and kept right on doing it. The next thing I knew the door opened and there she was with a switch. She splashed more water on the floor than I had when she swung that switch into that water to get to my legs.

I know the intentions were good, but I'm not real big on whipping humans. I feel like it is still implying that violence is the answer to stuff and if you're bigger & stronger it's okay to physically control others.

The "kid" is old enough to understand things if the father took the time to explain. He does not have to be whipped like an animal.

well, it's all just opinon, but the most well behaved kids I know are not whipped, their parents communicate with them & teach them right from wrong as soon as they understand language.

IMO it's a mixed message to say "don't act hard on facebook, post this video of me acting hard instead"

but I know a lot of parents do this, and it's normal to them. I just don't agree with it.

I'll never forget once when I was in high school, I came home crying one day because our family was going on vacation for a week in the middle of the semester and my history teacher said I had to be there for an exam or take a "0" on it.

My mom called the school and yelled at that teacher. "It's not the fault of my daughter or our family that your sorry ass was out on strike for two weeks, delaying these final exams. My daughter will not be there for the exam, and if she gets a zero for any reason other than that she got every question incorrect, you will hear from me again. And, trust me - you won't like it."

I understand that. I grew up in the South Bronx, so I'm glad I had a tough, but loving father to keep me on the straight & narrow. I didn't always like his stern ways, but looking back, I'm grateful for it.
