Anyone who blames Cutler 4 this loss was NOT watching the game.

I don't understand the running play on Chicago's final drive. Was that Martz' call or Lovie's?

Sanchez and that Jet o-line beter get ready - this ain't the New England defense they're facing.

I know, and I actually like me some Steelers but if MY team ain't it I root for the underdog. Plus the Jets are fun. As much as I like Tomlin, he's boring. Ryan and the rest of them fools will be quite entertaining in the run up to the big game. lol

I'm not blaming Cutler for losing the game. I'm just wondering why he wasn't on the field when he could walk along the sideline. According to Lovie, he said that it was the doctors' and trainers' decision to pull him from the game. If this were a regular season game in October I could see why, but this is a conference championship game to get your team to the Super Bowl. If Terrell Owens can play in the Super Bowl and be productive against the advice of his doctors, and if Phillip Rivers can play a whole game at quarterback in the AFC Championship game against the Patriots with a torn ACL, then Jay Cutler was healthy enough to go back in the game. He's going to be reamed for being too soft, whether it's warranted or not.

Having said that, Lovie was outcoached. He should have put Caleb Hanie in the game instead of Todd Collins and given the Bears at least a decent shot of tying the game. I'm not surprised that Caleb Hanie threw those interceptions considering he had virtually no playing time this season.

Cutler's NFL contemporaries go after him on Twitter

We're used to fans questioning the toughness of NFL players, especially in a game that has a Super Bowl berth on the line. If the quarterback of your hometown team can't go for whatever reason (especially if it isn't really obvious that he's hurt), there's going to be some negative talk (and possibly some guerilla theater after the game).

What you don't usually see, as you did while Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler(notes) spent over half of the NFC championship game on the sideline with a knee injury, was the sort of invective we saw from Cutler's NFL contemporaries, and some notable ex-players. We've got a roll of tweets after the jump in which Cutler is questioned outright for his toughness and resolve with his absence in the game that the Green Bay Packers won, 21-14. A very interesting turn of events, considering the fact that these were all in-game before anyone had any idea what Cutler's injury actually was. Frankly, we've never seen anything like it.

The Bears said all the right things about Cutler's injury in the postgame news conferences, but public perception is going in a very different direction. And in Cutler's case, it starts with the guys who take the field and have a different level of understanding when it comes to putting it all out on the field. And we probably shouldn't invite Cutler and Maurice Jones-Drew(notes) to the same offseason barbecue...

It's a tough call. I have seen guys with torn knee ligaments walk off the field as if nothing was wrong. Will all these players (current and former) come back around and apologize if it turns out that Cutler has a serious injury?

Funny you should post that photo. According to ESPN, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer has requested to be traded. Should the Bengals refuse or find no takers, then he says he will retire.

How about a three way trade between the Bears, Titans, and Bengals? The Bears can send Jay Cutler to Cincy, who can then send Carson Palmer to the Titans, and the Bears can get Vince Young. biggrin So what if Vince Young is supposedly immature? He won't quit on the Bears like Cutler did.

I heard about Palmer pulling out the retirement card this morning. I wonder if he's serious?

Hey y'all have 6 Super Bowls. You don't need 7, y'all are cocky enough as is, considering Green Bay was winning NFL Championships back when the Steelers were still swimming in the NFL's nuts. wink

Good one, lol

Hey, like Princey says, it's the magic number. We'll chill for awhile after we get #7.

Steelers don't do cocky...the Jets, on the other hand...

That's true about the Packers though...I remember them days.
