The thing with FB is I know loads of people that accept anyone as friends wether they know them or not neutral

You wouldn't be comfortable with a stranger calling you on the phone and asking how your day was lol

I never add strangers or work colleagues disbelief

Ditto. I had a few work acquaintances as friends. Even though I never post anything about work (except things like my co-workers and their damned baby carrots mad ) - I dumped them all a year ago, just to be safe.

I love Facebook. It reminds me when everyone's birthday is, it allows me to easily stay in touch with family and friends from all over, and it's a fun place to share funny comments and snark.

I don't participate in any FB or online drama bullshit, and I ignore or de-friend people who do.

I don't friend coworkers or minors, either. That avoids a lot of crap in itself. I don't need my kids reading some of the shit I put on there! lol

It's what you make it.

Facebook is useless. See, the problem is - as you found out - that the better you let everyone know you're doing, the more jealous they get. And then that crud starts.

You don't have 874 friends. You probably have 3 or 4.

Spend time with them in person, rather than blowing your own horn to a bunch of people that don't care.

This is wonderful. Someone with some common sense. Facebook is a waste of time and most people use it to brag or eavesdrop on other people's lives. I don't use Facebook and never will. I prefer to see my true friends in person and actually talk to them on the phone once in a while too. I don't share the intimacies of my life with a bunch of people I barely know or don't know at all.

I have an account for work (social media stuff is part of my duties), and one for me.. the personal one for me is on lockdown, privacy-wise (I rarely complain about ppl at work [that I'm close to..] -- and even when I do, I never name anyone... that's just stupid.. lol).

I do have former coworkers from past jobs on the me one, former coworkers from my job on the work acct..

Yes. I've been FB free for a long time now. The only people I used to talk to was people I went to school w/ and random MJ fans that I've met, but I defriended them all. I also had a stalker on FB that I've had to block on more than one occasion, so yeah I don't like FB. I don't plan on opening up another FB account because I don't want that same person to find me again like he also did on Myspace and I ended up having to shut that down too. eek

I can honestly say I've never experienced any drama on Facebook. Everyone I've "friended" is a grown-up - and I've never posted anything I wouldn't put on a billboard. shrug

Mostly the same for me. I did have to delete someone who posted some stuff I didn't like, but it wasn't drama, it just meant the person wasn't who I thought they were and I deleted them so I didn't have to read it. End of story. I hadn't seen this person offline in years and I don't think I will any time soon.

thumbs up! Facebook is fun. It's not too difficult to avoid drama and crazy situations.I never post anything concerning my job and I don't post personal details that may create problems for me later wink

Yeah, I broke up with a friend, too. She wrote something that was so insulting that I deleted her from Facebook, from LinkedIn, and from my life in a span of about five minutes.

Of course, all that was 20 years in the making. The Facebook post was just the final straw. lol

FB has been great for me in staying touch after a recent work-related move 20 driving hours away. Yeah, it gets annoying, as it's a perfect venue for folks who are narcissistic and passive aggressive, but that's what the hide & defriend options are for. I really can't stand the people who post negative comment after negative comment - you know the ones!
