Sherri Shepard Gets Engaged...

'View' Co-Host Sherri Shepherd Gets Engaged To Boyfriend Of A Year

Story photo: 'View' Co-Host Sherri Shepherd Gets Engaged To Boyfriend Of A Year
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Sherri Shepherd is engaged.

A rep for "The View," the show Sherri co-hosts on ABC, confirmed to Access Hollywood on Tuesday that she is engaged to TV writer Lamar Sally.

Lamar proposed to Sherri over the holidays - on Dec. 26 - according to the star's rep.

"Upon arriving back to Lamar's home in Los Angeles from a trip to San Diego, Sherri was surprised to find their accommodations had been decorated with lights by one of Sal's best friends, her dog was wearing a Santa beard and hat, and, in the middle of a dish of Sherri's favorite, but forbidden, M&M's (she is diabetic), was a tiny little box," Sherri's rep said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

Lamar will be the second man in Sherri's life. "The View" lady has a young son, 5-year-old Jeffrey.

Lamar asked Jeffrey first before proposing to his ladylove of more than a year -- he also sweetened the deal by giving Jeffrey a Michael Jackson Wii game, the rep said.

The couple will wed in August in Chicago.

While Sherri hasn't Tweeted about the news, she will address the subject when "The View" returns with live episodes next week on Jan. 10.

Hope she doesn't venture too far for her honeymoon. She might fall off the edge of the flat earth she believes in.

I've never witnessed that, thank God. But then again, I don't watch The View, so that explains it.

Which comes off as condescending.

Agreed. I'm curious how so as well.

It's pretty clear that she loves her son dearly and suffered tremendously to get through her high risk pregnancy with him. With Sherri being an actress and comic I've never seen her imitation of him as nothing more than giving the feeling of what small children sound like when they assert themselves and develop personality. Do we honestly believe she would be making fun of or tearing down her son? I actually watch the view and I don't that feeling at all. What she's done in imitating Jeffrey is no different than any of the adults that have appeared on that show (co-hosts or otherwise) do when they act out something a child in their life has said, to paint a picture for the audience and give oomph to their narration. Although they do tackle some serious topics from time to time, the show is not Hardline or Meet The Press. Occasionally the hosts and their guest lapse into silly stories about parenthood and their children.
