What! Nobody is gonna say anything?

Yeah, you know what? I'm fixing to fucking say something. Take whatever stick you have in your ass, and bring it out. You're being a total fucking prick. How's that?

OK i guess i can't express an opinion. I am showing ways people bump threads in here all the time. They ain't fooling no one. But i will keep my thoughts to myself. disbelief

i knew what you were doing .. and i thought it was a good point...smile

Thanks Bliss, i was trying to show that you can bump a thread without saying anything relevant and yet look like you are not bumping the thread. Instead of saying bump i could do this

You just don't get it. That's it. I'm going to beat my fucking head on my desk. I really can't take it anymore.

I know yopu are talking about someone bumping a lot of threads that may have no relevance(to you). So what should we do? Ban them? Limit the number of posts this person has? delete their threads if we see a pattern going on?

If you got it, you'd stop making a stupid ass point that is irrelevant to what's going on.

If a thread fucking died 4 months ago, and no one has posted on it, it is quite silly to bring it up again. To go on and do this to multiple threads from one person is even more asinine.

Not to mention, Ian has specifically stated before that it shouldn't be done. If I have a thread, and you post irrelevant shit on it, that's one thing. If you go search for my thread from 4 fucking months ago, and post irrelevant shit on it, that's a completely different story.

Should i start a NEW thread with a link to the OLD thread on it? Or should i start a NEW thread that is just like the OLD thread?

ian

I'm gonna put this thread to rest now.

The reason we've never mentioned "bumping" in the site rules is because frankly, I would have expected most people to have a bit of common sense. And as theC mentions, it can be hard to judge etc.

The deal is this - there is absolutely nothing wrong with reviving an old thread, if you have something of value to add to it. However when ONE person revives a DOZEN threads, all from the SAME author, all within a FEW MINUTES of each other and all with ONE LINER comments... well that's pretty clear cut.

I personally consider such behaviour to be an "attack" on the forum facilities - it is an attempt to abuse the site and ruin the experience for the other people on it. So the moderator in question will use their own judgement and take action accordingly.

There's a little message at the top of the page of the "General Discussion" forum about bumping. If we need to make a rule out of it as opposed to trusting in people's common sense, then we'll do that.

Cheers

Ian
