making funky music?

alright i have a few questions,
alright, well im starting on a "in home" recording studio from skratch., i have no equiptment what so ever,
i make music simular to michael jackson's and prince's style.so im thinking for synths a minimoog,moog 1 taurus pedals,and a prophet 8.
also.. i have another question, alright well in a few michael jackson songs there are some cool vocal things (done by machine) that i would like to learn how to do (what equiptment to by) here is something that im talking about,
here is a link
YouTube - Michael jackson - Best Of Joy "Preview"
im talking about that parts that sounds like he is harmonizing with his own voice,
also, that ohhhhhh ahhhhhhh sound vibe in the back ground,
(also how would one make a soft relaxing beat like in that song? is that synthesizer? or what?)
please help,

OOOOOMG! Nothing personal against that girl, because I'm sure she thinks it's cute and all that. But, ummm.... it's not! That mess should be locked in a very strong safe and dropped into the Marianas Trench.

that girl didn't put the effect on her voice, someone else did it, probably without her knowing.

How about this then?

you record a few vocals, different harmonies and then layer them.

We use Cubase at my house, but there are lots of good progams to record vocals with nod

That was my kneejerk reaction.

If I have a New Years resolution it's to be more positive. Obviously I need a little work on that. biggrin

I'll drink to that nod

My husband calls me negative, but I call myself realist and I call him a HOPELESS OPTIMIST nuts he always drives to the front door of his destination, SURE that a parking space is waiting for him there, never leaving enough time to try other options if that plan falls through. Living with him has made me a nervous wreck dead

On the other hand, if you will buy Reason, you've got all in one - drums, keyboards, bass, synths..so it's worth the money.

That's for kids. Cool people who have plenty of time use Reason, because there are millions of buttons and knobs and I still don't know what to do with them even after 3 years lol
