Are you a people pleaser? I don't particularly know why but all my life.. I've felt it was important to make others happy before myself... I guess always looking for praise from my parents did it to me.. Anyway as I get older and settle into my adult life.. I still feel this way.. There something about the reward of doing something for someone and the gratitude of thanks.. It's like a inner high for me ... To see someones day go more simple or to see someone so gracious for something I did just makes my heart sing... However it tends to hit me hard some times because like everything some people like to take advantage... Anyway I guess I'm just one of those I would give my shirt off my back to someone else in need kinda person... Anyway are you a people pleaser or are you an individual self satisfier? insatiable3: how can i cure my hangover?

Used to be a major people-pleaser (that's the way I was raised). Now, I do what I can when I can, but not at the expense of my own happiness. Like everything else in life, it's about finding a balance.

I've always been extremely selfish

don't you just...use people? keep them at arm's length?
if they enjoy your company it's a happy coincidence, but really they're just there to please you, right? [Edited 12/28/10 16:37pm] everyone's a fruit & nut case

There are more people than just the men I sleep with in my life, you know.
I'm a mother and have family and friends that I love and care deeply for and it has nothing to do with pleasing me.
Hilarious. | |

Same. Though if I tend toward one pole or the other, I probably more often do things for others to my own ultimate loss. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

A pretty good balance of both
in a transistion phase now ... past 25 yrs raising kids I swung towards pleasing them more than myself
now as an empty nester that is swinging back more towards doing more for self than others
It pleases me to please (certian ) others so that's a double me me pleaser as it is

I wish I was selfish. Sometimes I'm TOO nice and people just run over me

Exactly...
As I get older, I find myself not going out of my way to the point of my misery for others... I can say no, and mean it.... ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~

I think I'm pretty equal, too. I'll go out of my way to help those that I care about so long as they show their appreciation in return. If they don't it's likely that I won't do it again (at least not for a very long time). But I don't generally give two shits for the rest for the world population these days. The planet, yes. The people, no. I used too, but I've been burned out by years and years of dealing with rude, selfish assholes.

I find it hard to say no " a lot"...
at times I can't bring my self to turn someone down...
I always think 'm going to hurt someones feelings so I just give in. surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water
I ain't felt this way in years...
