Japanese hot water pots...

does anyone own one?

basically, it makes hot water (up to 202 degrees fahrenheit) in a very very short amount of time, then dispenses it out..to make tea, hot chocolate, instant soup etc. We have one at work and it's so easy to use. I'm thinking of getting one for home...

does anyone have one?

They are great but aren't they sort of more fixed in place, like a mini hot water cylinder?

What about these 3 second kettles? I'm tempted to get one of those.

Yeah. Those are a standard appliance in German kitchens. Mine is stainless steel.

This is faster and uses less energy. Heats the water in less than 30 seconds. It's helpful to me when I want to bring food on the stove to boiling faster(soups, veggies, braising liquids, etc.), cause it's just instantaneous... and living in a culture where people practically live off of tea ( be it Japanese or German), it's a great convenience to have the water ready by the time you measure your tea leaves of pull out your tea bags for your ceramic pot.
