They used to give us half of what the projected year-end bonus would be at Christmas. Then, one year, they decided they needed to help the bottom line for the current year. That was the year they started waiting until after the end of the year to give any bonuses, at all.

So I don't see a penny until April (if then). rolleyes

We don't get anything. No party, no bonus, nothing.

My boss gave me something, though. It was a personal gift, not a company gift and it was very sweet of her.

My Christmas bonus will be getting Christmas Eve off and still getting paid for it. I told my boss not to go crazy but she insisted.

So did mine - a mouse pad that says, "Trust me. I'm in advertising." doh! lol

its not a christmas bonus, more of a performance bonus based on what I add to the bottom line..

I do give my staff holiday gift$, because I appreciate what they do for me.

Not a gotdamn thang! Not even a frickin card! OK, I'm lying. The university president gave a holiday party for the entire university. It was just an afternoon social hour with food, punch and cake. As far as my office is concerned, I hear my boss is notorius for giving very cheap, cheesy gifts. I've only been working here 7 months, so I was warned about the gifting fiasco. I don't really expect anything, that way I don't get disappointed. But I was told one year she gave a bag of oranges from Safeway to the office to share. Another year I was told she made mini cakes and gave each person 1 mini cake. Another year she made cookies and gave each employee 4 cookies each! lol

I'm giving my manager and supervisor an arrangement from "Edible Arrangements." She said she loves them, so I went ahead and ordered one for her. I'm giving the IT manager of our office a Philadelphia Eagles official NFL Tshirt. He's a sweetie pie and always helps me out of my computer jams. I'm not giving the head boss anything.

I was actually told by a former manager (who was one of the best bosses I ever had - and who ended up being a pretty good friend of mine) that you should never "gift up" in the office. In other words, you shouldn't gift your boss - your boss should gift you. Otherwise, it's like you're sucking up.

I haven't given any boss a present since. lol

We always have a company Xmas party and I have always gotten some form of bonus. Last year was a grand. In better years its been five grand. I don't particularly like my job but I have the best boss in the world.

I got an Amex gift card and an antique amethyst necklace. The Exec. Dir. has a business on the side buying/selling antique jewelry so all the girls in the office got to pick a piece. I'm not a big jewelry wearer, but it was a nice gesture. I'm wondering if it's real or costume jewelry though... The settings are a little loose so I guess I'll find out when I take it in to get fixed.

At my previous job, our boss made us watch a movie together in the museum lecture room and ordered lunch. Ugh. One year at a different museum, the Director gave everyone a free family membership. Which was really stupid because we all got into almost everything free anyway, and it just meant we were added to the mailing list. I would have rather had the $100. lol

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

We always have a department Christmas party given by the Director of Radiology. It's a really nice party with a dinner, a casino night and drawing for gifts.

Last year, because we did not get raises, but money was better than they thought it would be, we ended up getting our raise as a Christmas bonus. I L.O.V.E.D. it, but they didn't do it again this year.

Then, we always have a potluck in my immediate work area which is nice. They ladies I work with can really cook! (And I know them and been to their clean houses so it's all good.)

never had a job that does that.. lol -- monetary bonuses

we used to have great parties, but that's been scaled down a lot

- we haven't even had raises in almost 4 yrs.. (thanks, Bush)

they do give us the week between xmas eve & new yrs off, but we have to use 2 or 3 of our own vacation days to complete the time off.
