One of my favorite NYEs was the year I decided to stay in by myself and watch my own Buffy marathon. cloud9

This year, I am going to a party at my bf's friend's house. I think we're going to dinner too. I'm supposed to wear something fancy and while I used to LIVE for that kind of thing the idea of getting "dressed up" in a Minnesota winter is kind of ludicrous. I will have to cover my ensemble in layers of coats and scarves, muss my hair all down by wearing a hat and carry my shoes with me as I need to wear hearty winter boots just to walk down the sidewalks.

BUT we never do things with his friends, always mine, so I'm being a good girlfriend and shopping for a new outfit this week. Who doesn't love a new outfit?

does he have room to have some of your friends as well?

I sure there would be, but they have their own plan going on. So it was a choice of one or the other. And traveling across town on NYE isn't very feasible, so it's not really an option to try to hit both.

Absolutely nothing, which has become my tradition. I just chill as much as humanly possible and usually go to bed early. lol In this case I actually agree with Prince, time IS a trick. It's just another day, hour, minute, etc.

idea You need a coat dress! biggrin I've heard winter has been pretty cold in those parts this year. Maybe something nice that involves pants would be the way to go. lol Also, I like you more after reading the bolded part. redface lol

The facebook invitation specifically says "cocktail dress". neutral My bf is wearing a tie, at least, so I don't think I can get away with pants.

And I like you more knowing you like me more all cause of Buffy. lol

Well, you live there already, so I'm assuming you own a long heavy coat and the appropriate boots. So go all out on the dress! Wow the room and all that (although it really does seem kind of ludicrous). nod

Buffy rules! nod And anybody who would classify staying in for a Buffy marathon as a good time is cool people in my book. I'm about 8 episodes away from completely my first ever beginning to end Angel watching as well (I think I'm putting it off because that will finally be the end - nothing left to watch). I still love Buffy more, but I can see why some people dig really Angel. You hear that there's talk of doing a new Buffy movie that has nothing to do with the past or Joss? That does NOT work for me. lol

ooh! I put Angel off for a long time too. I won't say a word about the series finale, but if you want to chat about it once it's over, I'm all ears. smile

I even went back and watched Buffy AND Angel, beginning to end and lined it all up by the dates they aired so they were all in order and I'd see it in the proper sequence so when there was crossover stuff I'd catch all the little nuances. redface I'm a big dork that way. I've yet to pick up the comic books but I have a feeling that may even be in my future.

And Buffy without Joss is wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

Anayway. Back to the NYE thread. boxed

Bah! Threadjacking is my specialty. lol And I should have proofread my last comment before posting. Grammatical errors seem so much more egregious when discussing Joss or Buffy. boxed

I don't have a lot of the comic books in their physical form, but I do have 277 (nearly complete) of them digitally (scanned). They all fit on one DVD, so, ya know - orgnote. lol Some of the story arcs are great! And I mean as great as any episode(s). Some of them are meh. Season Eight has been pretty consistently great, but it's still hard for me to wrap my head around the original series storylines continuing. Haven't read the Angel or Spike 'After The Fall' series yet because I need to finish the Angel TV series first.

Old dude's best friend & wife are returning from vacation in Kenya and we're crashing at their place.

I think we're gonna do a German/Swisss dinner thing called Raclette, which is tabletop grilling similar to what you see in Japanese restaurants (teppanyaki grilling)...but we never use the traditonial German/swiss ingredients. We modernize that sucka by grilling salmon, shrimp, lobster pieces, pork tendeloin..then we add side sauces like Hollandaise, honey barbecue...serve some side salads, roast poatatoes, pilaf, and sekt (sparkling wine) foodnow

not sure yet. Was gonna go out with the hubby to a club but....my sister in law turns 40 on New Years Day and her hubby is throwing her a surprise party that day. I am in charge of getting her out of the house so he can get the party started. This means I'll have to be up somewhat early and be motivated....so I don't think going out is a good idea. sad

Our NYE plans are not solid yet.

May go out for an early dinner at a nice steakhouse then head back to our house to martini in the New Year.

The first part may change, the second part will not.

martini

We're going to Morton's. drool

I swear I love that place, when I die I want my memorial's afterparty at Mortons. lol

new years has never meant anything to me. shrug

I'd rather be at home than on the roads with all the drunks and cops, anyway.

Past few years, I don't think I even stayed up for midnight.

With that being said, I'm really hoping for a good 2011. I thought 2010 would be a good year for us, but it turned out to be harder than 2009.

neutral

My wife's health is better now that we have a correct diagnosis, and I'm earning real money again, two of the biggest reasons 2010 was so difficult...so I have high hopes for 2011.
