Never be so self-absorbed that you stop listening to people. Even the ones that you would normally reject. Many perspectives give a clearer view.

Happy birthday.

Happy Birthday, Teen... biggrin

To 16-yr-old me:

  • It's not that serious.
  • There will be other boys.
  • One day you're going to think it's important to be beautiful on the inside, too.
  • Being popular is nothing special.
  • It's only hair.
  • They are not your friends.

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

I would tell myself:

1)DO GOOD IN HS, AND GO TO COLLEGE, PLEASE

2) enjoy the moment, don't let others influence the way you act

3) try to learn as much as possible from mom n dad

3) tell mom n dad how much u appreciate and love them more often

Get out there and be social and try new things or you'll regret that you didn't and feel like you're behind when you become an adult! It will be much harder to change then.

Yes, you do have adhd AND you're lazy, get a hold of it now or your grades will continue to suffer!

Im sorry I don't agree with this, I see no reason to go out of your way to be nice to people who are mean to you. Fuck em and move on. Also do be so concerned bout what other people think to begin with.

> Dont worry so much about being popular and trying to fit in....You'll grow from a skinny, scrawny girl with absolutely no tits and finally blossom when you hit college but most importantly you'll realize people actually like you for you and not because you're a "cool" kid. And all the stuff that made you "different" or "uncool" in high school is very much embraced in you as an adult. And thats whats really cool!

nod

I WAS nice to mean people, they only treated me like a doormat. I finally started standing up for myself, never followed the crowds and was criticized daily. Fuck them.

I learned, that you don't have to be friends with everybody, you should choose your friends carefully. It is better to have few honest friends that respect you than be popular among some mean girls that will just be a waste of time in the end.

* Stick with that talent... and that one... and that one. If you take care of them, they will take care of you one day.

* No, son, I'm afraid you can't just sweep that "quirk" under the rug... or pray it away. hug

* Leave Ohio immediately after undergrad

* Start mastering your personal finances NOW!

* I won't BS you: Yes you are awkward. And quit trying to fit in because it ain't working. Be you... and in 10 to 20 years, you will shine like the stars. cool

* When you eventually meet that person and that person, say hello... and keep walking.

No, I'd never trade off onto someone else the consequences that came from my actions then.

Don't get me wrong, I believe it's all part of my journey and I realize that maybe a lot of other things would not have turned out the same for me, but still, if I had to do it over, that's one thing I would've chilled out on.

Don't be afraid to try the things that frighten you.

Don't be afraid to say no when you're sure it's something you don't want to do.

Don't worry one little bit what anybody else thinks about either of the above options. It's your life, get to it! lol

It's my sixteenth birthday today! So, if you could go back to sixteen (assuming you're past that age) what advice would you give yourself?

Advice for 16s

It's not a serious as you think it is.....enjoy yourself and take every opportunity because there will come a time when you won't be able to do all the things on offer today.

Infact... Just listen to Baz Lumans Sunscreen and you'll get it

Savour every moment - I wish I could relive my fondest memories but the person they are with is no longer the person I knew and neither am I.

Advice for older -
Never go back either... You can't recapture and it'll tarnish the memories.

Let God guide you.

You're 16 and you probably don't care, but dude - right now is a great time to start making compound interest your friend. Start putting a tiny bit of cash away and keep adding to that bit by bit, and in time you'll have a mountain.

Invest in yourself because you are worth it, right?

Let's be clear - that advice was for my 16-year-old self.

I had a terrible time in school from the time I was about 10. There were a lot of kids (boys, mostly) who were extremely mean to me - to the point of actually threatening physical violence against me. I didn't do anything to provoke it apart from doing my best in school. Every time I won a spelling bee...or had the highest score on a test...or got the lead in the class play...the abuse escalated.

My mom told me to just continue doing my best and ignore the bullies. So I did, to the extent I was able. (I was scared to death, most of the time.) I was quiet and reserved, and didn't insinuate myself anywhere I wasn't wanted. But then (of course), I was accused of being stuck up. I couldn't win.

I've often thought...if, instead of ignoring and hiding from the bullies, I had just smiled at them every day and said, "Good morning!" maybe things would have been different. Might have been worth a try, anyway. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
