I did all this walking around yesterday

Last night I went for a walk around 9pm and went up all these hills and stuff for excercise cuz I'm getting a little nervous about my flabby thighs and ass.

So now today I'm having terrible nick fits so I keep eating up all of the chips and cookies from the Holiday basket someone dropped at the office.

All my hard work down the drain. neutral

If only I could smoke. mad

I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

Grr.

I’m not even pregnant and I’ve gained 10 pounds this year. TEN POUNDS. It’s cause I decided hanging out with my bf and being lazy is more fun than working out.

I’m not bothering to do anything about it till after the new year. It’s useless. There’s food everywhere and no end in sight.

Here’s hoping I can get back down a good 20-30 by, say, April.

My favorite advice for getting through the worst of a nic fit was to wait 10 minutes. You can totally get through the next 10 minutes without the drug and most incredibly strong urges like that pass within that time.

I would also go for a walk or drink lots of water to combat cravings as well. Of course, I was peeing every 20 minutes, but it gives you something to do other than soke or obsess about not smoking.

You can totally do this. nod

Hmm… maybe that’s due to the pregnancy and just hormones and such? My strong cravings were all but gone after about 8-9 weeks. I’d still get them from time to time but it was way less frequently and way easier to handle.

Tobacco is as addictive as heroin (as a mood & behavior altering agent).

  • Nicotine is:
    • 1000 X more potent than alcohol
    • 10-100 X more potent than barbiturates
    • 5-10 X more potent than cocaine or morphine
  • A 1-2 pack per day smoker takes 200-400 hits daily for years. This constant intake of a fast acting drug (which affects mood, concentration & performance).. eventually produces dependence.

Pressures to relapse are both behaviorally & pharmacologically triggered.

Quitting involves a significantly serious psychological loss... a serious life style change.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it takes 18 years for the body to get rid of nicotine..hence the cravings last for 18 years. tobacco companies know this. you know how they brag about their filters?...here's a little inside info for you...the cigarette companies brag about how there are little holes around the perimeter of a cigarette, which let air mix with the smoke, thereby diluting the smoke before it goes through the filter, hence less tar and nicotine. guess what?? the little holes were specifically designed to be placed at the point that most people hold the cigarette..hence blocking the holes, and thereby INCREASING the nicotine content. brilliant no?
don't forget during world war II and korea....cigarettes were provided to the troops for free. when my dad was in college, he said they gave out cigarette samples for free. hence that whole generation was addicted..
brilliant, no?
Yeah, I still cannot believe that after 4 years of being tobacco free I picked it up again! This is interesting, but around the time I started again, I also started going back to other old behaviors as well.
Ya the first time I quit the first few weeks were hell, but then I got to a point where I could not STAND the smell of ciggarette smoke.
It could be the pregnancy I guess........my crazy ass mood swings. lol
