Scarlett O'Hara: Rhett... If you go ... where shall I go? What shall I do?
Rhett Butler: Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

Scarlett O'Hara: As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me! I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again! No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill! As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!

More!

When Dean Stockwell sings "In Dreams" to Dennis Hopper in "Blue Velvet"...

When Harrison Ford just shoots the bad guy with the machete instead of tryin' to fight him in "Raiders Of The Lost Ark"...

When the jet engine falls thru the roof and kills Donnie, and the entire montage to the song "Mad World" afterwards in "Donnie Darko"...

Pretty much everything in "Eraserhead"...

The scene in A Few Good Men, when Nicholson said, "You can't stand the truth!"

"You can't handle the truth!" biggrin

The scene when Louise shoots the bastard trying to rape Thelma in the parking lot of a bar in Thelma & Louise.

The scene when Harvey Keitel talks to Louise by phone and tells her he knows what happened to her in ... I forgot what state...

The scene at the end when they unexpectedly decide to commit suicide by driving over a cliff. <--made me demonstratively jump out of my seat and exasperatingly question WHY, as if both Thelma and Louise could hear me.

The scene in Terms of Endearment when Emma, in her hospital bed (her eventual death bed), tells her young son not to miss her while she's gone.

The scene in Terms of Endearment when Shirley McClaine (Aurora) slaps her grandson around after the way he talks about his dying mother.

The scene at the new years eve party in Godfather II where Michael Corleone grabs the back of Fredo's head, and kisses him on the lips while proclaiming, "You broke my heart, Fredo! You broke my heart!"

The scene in Godfather II when Michael closes the door (without saying a word) on his estranged wife while she's in the doorway after seeing their kids.

The interspersed scenes in the first Godfather movie when Michael's infant son is being baptized in a Catholic church while his hits are carried out on people, all the while he answers the priest's questions while the water is being poured on his son's head, one being "Do you renounce Satan?" Michael's answer; "Yes"...and the killing continues.

Every scene with Marlon Brando in the first Godfather. He and Pacino put on acting clinics in those first two movies.

I think some people are reaching a little bit in searching for truly powerful movie moments, but I find the scene in Star Trek II where Spock sacrifices his life to save the crew and Captain Kirk has to go down and say goodbye before he dies of the radiation to be EXTREMELY powerful.

THANK YOU - someone finally mentioned Goodfellas!!! biggrin

Another one in Goodfellas is where Karen & Henry pull the gun on each other in bed... :O Hell, the whole movie is powerful, it's my absolute favorite film of all time... mr.green

star

Do The Right Thing - everything that leads up to the chaotic ending, starting w/ Buggin' Out & Radio Raheem coming into the pizzeria after closing... omfg

AND Mookie's talk w/ Pino about "nigga this & nigga that" was very powerful too...

star

What's Love Got to Do With It - when Ike clears the house & rapes Tina in the sound booth - it's so brutal, so heartbreaking... cry

AND when Ike kisses Tina on the cheek & that single tear rolls down her face. The audience "aww's" like it's so sweet, not knowing what's just happened backstage...

star

Glory - when Denzel is whipped for trying to find himself some shoes & he's standing there so strong through it, those tears drop, you can read it all in his eyes... disbelief

star

The Color Purple - so many things in this movie! I still get touched when Nettie & Celie are separated for the first time & when they're reunited @ the end & can hardly believe they're seeing each other again... cry

star

Monster's Ball - when the son shoots himself... :O

star

Antoine Fisher - the scene in the bathroom where the doctor distances himself from Antoine... cry

star

Two Girls & a Guy - the Robert Downey Jr./Heather Graham sex scene was hot...
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Empire Of The Sun- At the end when the boy's parents find him amongst the lost children, and he doesn't even recognize them 'cause it's been so long since he's seen them.

What Dreams May Come- When Robin Williams' character is talking to a beautiful Asian woman in Heaven, then she reveals herself to be his daughter who he's been looking for and that this is her heaven.

Ghost- When Heaven's light comes to take Patrick Swayze away at the end.

Meet Joe Black- The whole movie.

Glory- When Denzel's body falls next to Matthew Broderick's in the sand pit.

Forrest Gump- I love that movie.

The Joy luck Club- When the woman finds her twin sisters her mother left behind in China.

Also the original DUTCH version of "The Vanishing". I don't
know exactly how it came about, but someone in america saw
that movie and then they re-did it. But the remake was just
a sad, pathetic excuse for a scary film, compared to the
original.

Cuz, the original Dutch film is really freaking haunting.
That whole film was claustrophobia beginning to end.

The last scene where the guy lights his lighter and realises
he's been burried alive -and thus we conclude that his girl
had been burried alive too. That was so awful man. I've had
nightmares about that for months after.

Shocking.

Excellent movie!...And at the very end, doesn't it show the guy buried alive, and then pan up to the kidnapper and his family relaxing in the backyard just above him??...

Yes, I do believe it does. It was really one of those "OK,
