sweet! But $726? That's a big step up from $449!
What model did you get?
Excel, word, power-point and whatever else is on there was $100
2 year Warranty $129
Plus taxes?
It adds up quickly and before you know it
gotcha, that makes sense
MS office suite is a sham! It should cost like $20. Pisses me off. If it was cheaper, maybe not everyone would be using versions their friends copied for them |

it comes with Wordperfect and some other Excel clone.
of course EVERYONE uses Word & Excel. But I do think those documents are maybe compatable with Word & Excel?
Whatever you got it and I am jealous! I might be moving to a smaller place, I just don't think a huge computer is going to cut it anymore. |

K, here is the thing. My friend let me borrow her laptop and it had the wordperfect note thingee and when I would copy from there and paste on my work computer with word, it jumbled up the order of my paragraphs and put a character _ <-------- that character, between every single letter and space! = formatting nightmare. The $100 will be worth it |

Whatever Consumer Reports says do. They test these computers for quality and price and they are not paid off by the corporate sector. They are part of the consumer union. With them you can not go wrong.
I heard that Gateway sucks. All you others say Hell Yea!! |

yeah not worth it. I think you could probably have gotten around it by saving as "text only" or something, but it's not worth it.
I got Word 97 from a friend and it was still simpler than using Wordperfect |

The Toshibas I bought for $299 came with Microsoft Office 2010 Starter Edition. Which is code for saying Word and Excel with only 3/4 of the bells and whistles activated. More than enough for the average user. I'm fairly certain that a lot of new laptops are equipped the same way. Any extra cost is probably for a completely unpacked, fully licensed version of the entire Office suite. |
