New director on this one. Rob Marshall of "Chicago" fame is on board on this one. He has a better feel for narrative.Though the kids and swooning girls do not care about narrative I suppose.

The previous ones though beautiful to look at, always felt like a flip book by a kid with ADHD. But what do I know, those films made tons of money.

eek Part 4!?

I didn't go past the first film and I knew of a second but the third film was completely off my radar. I do recall liking the first film though.

Love 1 & 2, liked 3. I even loved that 3 was a bit darker (especially the surreal multiple Jack Sparrows stuff), but it also felt the least cohesive and the payoff wasn't as good as I was expecting. Looking forward to the 4th one (even though Penelope Cruz kind of gets on my nerves as an actress) and I believe they've already announced they'll be filming 5 and 6 back to back. That's great news because it means Disney is really loving what they're seeing of the 4th installment. I guess Depp was serious when he said he'd make as many as they wanted so long as he liked the scripts.

He is nod I'm pretty sure anyways.

In the trailer, it looks like Cap'n Jack is in jail and he's talking to his dad (Richards) who's in the neighboring cell.

Damn as much as I love sexy Johnny, I just can't get with these "Pirates of the Carribbean" movies. I mean I did stay awake long enough to see the first one all the way through, but I fell asleep halfway through the second one. I tried watching the third one once it came on HBO and fell asleep again. Maybe its mainly for the kids confuse

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I think the first movie had a strong narrative, but the other two were so confusing... what was supposed to be suspensful? What was the emotion? What the hell was going on that actually built up into a coherent flowing narrative? I have no idea what was going on outside of plot detail after detail and effect after effect with no actual plot. Completely different then the first one.

I hope the new one has a stronger sense of story.

But can someone tell me... why was Penelope Cruz cast? Is the other actress gone? They look similar in the photographs.

orlando bloom's character is not in this one-so I'm told-no need for other chick. I guess. It's probably a new love/hate relationship for Johnny's character.

i think Angelica is playing Capt jack and that she is either a mermaid or in league with them

and I am thinking her name is no accident! Angelica hummm.

I totally agree with what you've said about the narrative. The first movie got it. The next two movies tried to be more. Sometimes more is not better, it's just more.

I'm with you on this. I saw the first movie, but couldn't be bothered to see the rest. I love Johnny, but these pirate movies are totally overrated.
