You know, in all honesty I really don't care about the book, the plagiarism allegations and the whole charade. Thats his bed of rocks.

What IRKS the hell out of me is the sexist overtones coming out of this guy whenever I make the misfortune of giving him the benefit of the doubt by listening to his show. And to find that his main audience is mostly women is mind boggling to me.

The same case with Tyler - his portrait of black women in his movies are mean spirited at worst, and reinforce stereotypes & stigmatization at best YET black women invade the theatre whenever his movies are playing.

I admit,,,,,I don't get it.

1. We'll talk about Tyler in the next thread. wink

2. Just so you know, I've seen Steve throw up a few handsigns in recent months. THAT alone tells me (since I'm such a conspiracy realist!) that Steve is just another pawn in the game that is willing to do the divide and conquer among the genders for the quick cash in a hurry.

It's amazing how people get mad when somebody speaks the truth. Guys know that it's true, but for some reason we don't want to admit it. Guys will jump at the first chance they have with even a semi hot chick!

Steve Harvey has been married 3 times and has only been married to wife #3 since 2007. He can't tell me ANYTHING about relationships.

If I want relationship advice, I am going to ask someone who's been in one for 20+ years, not a marginally talented comedian. But hey, to each his own. His books seem to be selling so someone must be listening to this guy. shrug

Somebody is getting something out of what he's saying, and I have once owned a book by a top selling author who was married five times, and the things she said made a lot of sense. A few of her sayings I have disagreed with, but still. What Harvey needs to do is curb the habit of generalizing, because he cannot speak for 6 million people. I believe that surveys and statistics would help support his claim. Therefore, you will have an idea what some or most men think, and not all. Also, culture plays a factor on what a man thinks, and it is pretty diverse.

Did the author speak of her of her own experiences; what she learned after being married 5 times? Mr. Harvey didn't and it would have given him and his book a little bit more creditability than the drivel he wrote and I guess he believes. After reading his book I can understand why he's on marriage number 3.

There are many men that won't. No way will every man in a relationship, when alone with an attractive female friend, cheat on his significant other if the friend comes on to him. No way.

Blood pressure pills, I had bottle of Jack Black and some ice. lol I read his book because my daughter and some of her women friends wanted my opinion. I checked his book out at library cuz I sure wasn't given Mr. Harvey or his publisher a dime. In short, I told her and her friends there's a big difference between catering and reciprocity. Basing a relationship on one partner making sure the other one feels whole, is a recipe for disaster.

So far on here, you are one testament to the fact that his book of wisdom didn't move you. What may be trash to you may be a treasure to the next person. I hear some people say they don't like Dr. Phil, but he's making a difference in someone's life. I am not saying these people should be your everything, but there's nothing wrong with sound advice, and then you evaluate it. I didn't read the book, and my statements were based on what others got from it as well as listening to his radio shows. He makes too many generalizational statements, but I have explained why he should curb it. Also, he made a statement about the book on YouTube which had me look hmm. He stated that he didn't need to gather up references to back his claim because if I'm correct, every man out there knows what he's talking about. If that's true, then prove it, and don't make assumptions. I've heard him make some good points, but again I have to read the book in its entirety.

As for the book I have read 'Secrets About Men Every Woman Should Know, her name is Barbara DeAngelis, PhD. That name probably rings a bell with you. She stated that being married so many times, and divorcing taught her to love herself more because no man can do that for her, and that she had abandonment issues. Therefore, she used sex and marriage for a cure all. As I look back because it was some time ago, I don't believe the book is for every woman out there, but it's an attention grabber.

Now I will admit that I did buy and read the first book...at the time I was going through a rough time dealing with a breakup and wanted answers regarding that....but reading his book confused me. It's like damned if you do damned if you don't type of philosophy. I didn't agree with some of his points but it was interesting to know the trail of thought of how at least "this man" thinks when it comes to relationships and women. Most of it I found to be common sense but overall since I wasn't totally, completely "lost", I didn't look at the book as something I "had to follow" in order to "get a man".

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'm not gonna click the link, because it's Steve Harvey and I can't bore myself at the moment. But I never ceased to be amazed that women actually value relationship advice from pulpit pimps, Steve Harvey, and Tyler Perry....and can't figure out why they can't "find a good man".

lol It's you, boo. It's you.

Yeah it sure is...I was thinking that when I was going through it last night. I used to like their health and fitness section especially when they had stories about women who lost a lot of weight and what they did to do it, but now they don't even have that anymore. Just a bunch of elementary yoga positions that they suggest to do in order to get flat abs rolleyes But I still take Essence over Ebony magazine any day.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Percentage starts off around 75%....if she's hot, it goes up to 80-90.

Two singles........no problem!
