If somebody were to make those cupcakes look like they were Jewish and they were screaming about going into the gas oven would that not be racist? Some things cannot be molded into humor.

usage of blackface....white eyes and pink lips is well established to be a symbol of hatred. Using such a historical image that in this country, represented the dehuminization and oppression of one race is not cool. Minimizing the intent of the image by putting it on a cupcake is mindboggling. Putting a blackface image on cupcake and making it beatbox is insane (and obviouse). To say it was meaningless is an insult to my intelligence.

Somebody along the process of making that commercial had some negative opinions of dark skinned persons because that wasn't even subtle. it was blatant.

Actually, the overt message seems to be that the cupcakes aren't any good until the chocolate glaze is added.

If taken to a racial conclusion -- where adding the "blackness" makes the cupcakes superior -- it seems the opposite of the white supremacy that made blackface such a misguided comic element (at best) and a means to dehumanize and stereotype (at worst).

I dont think we will agree. You see chocolate, I see a traditional mockery. Why didn't they use different colors of frosting? Why make them look like that (blackface)? Believe me, nothing in marketing for a major corporation is overlooked or accidental.

Why would they use different coloured frosting when the commercial is for a product that is CHOCOLATE glaze?

They don't look like blackface either.

There most certainly is racism around us...but it's not in this commercial.
