His movies and TV show on boxing has created a big spotlight on Boxing 4 well over 30 years.

I can't say if it's good news, but Mike certainly deserves it for his boxing legacy.

If he had not fallen so hard I think he was on the path to being the undisputed GOAT

yes, seeing Buster Douglas knock him out was almost like seeing a man walk on water. It just seemed impossible for anyone to touch him. I remember seeing the first fight of his that went past the first round! LOL

Mike has problems, and he gets some blame in my mind because he is an adult, but I do see him as a guy who was taken advantage of once he made it, by his wife and everyone else around him.

The other responded "if Tyson got a good shot to the head I think the tiger gets mad and kills him with one swipe of the claws."

What Jack Johnson accomplished was incredible, considering how dangerous it was for black Americans at that time. There was a legitimate risk of sniper fire when he stepped into the ring.

I know but.....I can't seem to get into his style of fighting or maybe it's his swag- something is missing. I've seen the old footage and I don't excited like I do when I watch footage of the other fighters. I've seen his name on many a GOAT list though.

I think it would be really difficult for older athletes to compete with younger athletes unless they actually trained using modern methods.

Ali might be the "greatest" for his achievements and his innate skill, but I don't think he would stand a chance against a modern bruiser like Tyson.

All of the great modern athletes exceed the levels of the old ones (records geerally keep getting broken) because they have the advantage of building on what came before them. Techniques are refined constantly.

Put another way, it is arguable that Babe Ruth might be a "greater" home run hitter than Barry Bonds, but he is not a "better" hitter.

Tyson is a power puncher. Remember most of his fights were won by TKO, 44/50 I think is his record. A primed Tyson would probably beat a primed Ali but only if he got that good hit in within the first couple rounds.

What's the longest fight Tyson has had? I'm thinking he's probably not gone past 6 rounds.

Tyson/Holyfield was stopped in the 11th

Part of Ali's greatness was how he defied the odds later in his career, and Tyson did not do that, he fell apart.

But a young Tyson? There's a reason none of his fights went on for very long.

Chavez and Tsyzu are outstanding additions to the hall, it's important that two warriors like that aren't overlooked cause of Tyson

That's a good question. Foreman is 68/76 for his knockouts and he's been known to be a hard hitter. He's good at taking punches too whereas Tyson always seemed to know how to duck at the right moment. I'd still say Tyson probably did more damage with his punches because when he knocked a mofo out....they stayed SLEEP!

NIMO. Foreman's opponents took a lot of abuse before falling out. With Tyson, his opponents didn't seem to know what hit them. No pun.

I'm happy for Iron Mike, he deserves to be in the Boxing hall of fame no doubt.

As far as Prime Tyson vs. Prime Ali I pick Ali all day over Mike, he would use his reach and box circles around Mike IMO. Hell in all honesty I think a prime Larry Holmes gives a prime Iron Mike trouble too cause just like Ali he has that reach and he would keep Tyson on the end of his jab all night.

Prime Foreman vs. Prime Tyson would of been a war, I'm not sure who would come out on top of that one, they both had crazy power. One fight that would be real interesting would of been Prime Tyson vs. Prime Smokin' Joe Frazier, they had similar styles and were both tenacious in that ring!

Tyson's KO's were great and were fun to watch but as a boxing purist the only one that truly made me go WOW was the one against Michael Spinks, I truly thought Spinks would give him a challenge at least. We all know how that turned out
