VIDEODROME: LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!

"The television screen is the retina of the minds eye, therefore the televison screen is part of the physical structure of the brain, therefore whatever appears on the television screen, emerges as raw experience for those who watch it, therefore television is reality, and reality is less than television."

It is about all kinds of great things... the manipulation of humanity through media, human desire to vicariously experience horrible violence and sadistic sex, the transformation of humanity through media.

Max Renn is transformed into a human weapon by videodrome-induced hallucinations and physical mutations... what's not to love?

Forget "Nightmare on Elm Street." You really NEED to see "Videodrome," as it is brilliant!!!

I see it has James Woods in it, so i will seek it out. He's a great actor.'Salvador' is probably his best performance.i see a pattern forming, that's a bit harrowing in places too.

I think that you will like it... mind you, it was made in 1983, so it is not a "modern" looking movie, but Rick Baker did a fine job on the special effects.

This movie really is brilliant. *in my estimation*

Hey Ice, does the DVD contain the scenes that were used in the TV cut? I noiticed once when I watched it on network TV that it was a fairly significantly different cut, including some completely alternate scenes.

The DVD is the "complete uncut version including footage never shown in movie theaters." I have never seen the edited for television version, as I cannot tolerate edited movies, so I cannot say if the additional material is from that edit, but this version is really great.

"eXistenZ" was a different kind of movie... it was certainly not my favorite Cronenberg movie, but "Videodrome" was a complete masterpiece!

"Crash" was a very strange movie, but what do you expect from a movie made out of a J.G. Ballard book? That movie was EXTRAORDINARILY perverted... but, then again, Cronenberg is no stranger to perversion. God, how I love him.

He also did a good job on "Naked Lunch," and did about as good a job as you could with that particular book.

Therapy

Naked Lunch is excellent. Towards the end though, I am itching for the film to end... Experiencing that much insanity while watching a film I can only take once in a while...

Something arousing about those bugs though...

I wonder why they haven't put "Naked Lunch" on DVD... hmmm...
