Can you cheat and have soup in a bread bowl?

We'd have to go to Efan for a ruling on this, but I don't believe I'm supposed to be doing any chewing for quite a while.

Are you doing Robin's soup thing?

I have to say, I can't stand Robin lately, and even though I salute her fitness accomplishments, I just don't think she's right about this stuff.

But to answer paintedlady's question, I don't think Robin's plan allows chewing and definitely not bread (certainly not any kind of bread a normal human being would want to chew). biggrin

It cooks a mean chicken... I stopped baking chicken because of it. lol

That sounds good, but I'm addicted to making chicken in a clay pot. I like rotisserie chicken a lot, but after the clay pot, I can't go back.

The rotisserie chicken comes out juicy with crispy skin, and cooked in its own juices so the fat melts off and the meat stays moist. Espcially the breast meat, no oils need to be added too which is a plus!

So a clay pot huh? I must try this! How does the chicken turn out texture wise? Does it need oils added?

No oils added; you just have to soak the pot in water for about 10 minutes first. And you have to put it into a cold oven, because it can't handle suddend changes in temperature. It's the moistest chicken you've ever had, I swear. Plus, you can throw any veggies you want in there with the chicken, so it all cooks at once in the same pot. I love it.

Oh, yeah, they're amazing! It's one of my favorite kitchen items. You can do seafood and soups in them as well.

I like that, too - but since I rarely eat pasta, I make something I call a "hot nicoise." Sort of a take-off on a nicoise salad, only you make it in the oven. Oven roasted potatoes, green beans, cherry tomatoes, nicoise (or pitted kalamata) olives, a can of olive-oil packed tuna, a sprig of thyme, a squirt of lemon juice, and salt and pepper. Put it all in a foil packet and bake for 20-30 minutes (just 'til it's hot) in a 350-degree oven.

I usually plan ahead for this, so I oven roast some potatoes and green beans on Sunday, so I can have the nicoise during the week. But you can also use frozen potatoes and beans. It'll just take a little longer to cook.

Total comfort food. cool

drooling That sounds yummy.

Chili is so versatile. What is it that they do not like about it? Is it the heat/spice?

I took some out of the little man before I added too much heat. He is ok with it as long as I mix it with some rice. He prefers chicken & veg risotto or chicken, mushroom & leek pie.

I don't know what they dislike about it. They eat curry and other spicy food. Ben is a bit fussy with rice anyway.

I'll try other variations of it. And i'll cook lots of garlic bread to go with it, so they won't starve if they don't like the chilli. lol

I love garlic bread with chili. I love garlic bread with just about anything, actually.

Corn bread is, of course, also the bee's knees with chili.

I usually always have garlic bread with bolognese or chilli.

I don't think i've ever had corn bread.

Oooh, corn bread is a real treat. It is fantastic with chili. If you come to the States, particularly the south, be sure to try some.

You do NOT know what you're missing!

The teacher's cafe in our school has some of the best food.

On Fridays we have fried whiting, collard greens, potato salad, and cornbread so moist it's like cake.

All for $5.!!!

Have you ever been to Mobay on 125th St. in Harlem? They give you a hot piece of cornbread with a pineapple glaze while you wait for your food. It's like getting dessert first.

The black bean soup and chili sound amazing!

Tonight I'm getting taken out for dinner to Bolsa in Dallas.

I've never been there, so I peeked at the menu online.

The 2 dishes that sound the best to me are:

Nantucket Bay Scallops with parsley root puree and vanilla sabayon

-or-

Gnocchi A L'Alsacienne with winter squash, wild mushrooms and sage

...god I'm hungry!

razz
