I like House to. He is such a jerk, but you still like him.

I found this past episode on 12/9 to be much more satisfying than the previous one. The look on Olivia's face when Peter told her he slept with her double made the entire show worth watching. And at the end when she in turn came clean with Peter and told him that she didn't want to be with him anymore was the cherry on top. Excellent.

If they really wanted to convince us, they'd leave it where it was.

I find that kind of stuff tiresome, actually. It's just another example of yet another show that thinks it needs to keep its leads apart.

Yeah, but its ratings are horrible where it is...

That still doesn't mean the ratings will get better on Fridays (the final resting place of the last 2 sci-fi shows they killed). To be perfectly honest, it's ridiculous that the Nielsen ratings system is still used in this day and age. You mean no one can devise a way to get accurate ratings info? Fringe has a pretty hardcore following, but I doubt most of us have Nielsen boxes, so we'll continue to get screwed. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Sure... but FOX can't coddle the series forever. I watch it, I like it but FOX babied Fringe its entire first season by protecting it behind House and AI. The fact it can't stand on its own now with a very stable lead-in is down to the show.

No, I don't think FOX is moving it in hopes of a ratings improvement. They'd already ordered a full season and now have to run it out.

Fans of failing shows like to say this but the fact is, a) they usually don't really understand how it works and b) no one can come up with a more accurate method.
The likelihood that Fringe, specifically, is under-represented vs others shows is unrealistic.

What you call "coddling," I call "keeping it off the worst night for TV viewership."
(a) I understand plenty. (b) No one has come up with a more accurate method yet, but there has to be one.
The fact that Fringe performs better after DVR numbers seems to suggest it isn't as unrealistic as you think. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I never thought they were right together to begin with so I'm happy with keeping them apart. Better to save their hooking up for the very end anyway.

You have yet to explain what's wrong with the current method.
I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion. The high DVR numbers only indicate that people choose to watch something else live and record Fringe for leisure viewing. High DVR numbers don't imply that live viewers are undercounted.

I was never convinced they had chemistry, either, but forcing unrequited sexual tension into the story just for the sake of having it is overused. If they're not going to put them together, I'd rather not see a litany of excuses - just don't put them together.

Because it's obvious. If I have to explain it to you, what's the point?
You assume people are always watching another show live when they DVR something; I can assure you that isn't always the case. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Overused because it still works. I think there is very good chemistry on Bones, but once they hook up, what is there to look forward to? It's frustrating, sure, but it keeps the viewers watching.

Just say you don't know, if so... it's okay.
No, I don't assume that at all - but the people that ARE watching something live on Thursdays at 9PM are not generally tuned into Fringe. [Edited 12/19/10 8:43am]

It didn't keep me watching, I gave up last season.
There's no reason the writers can't come up with compelling stories if they are involved (see Hart To Hart, for example). Even House realized how ridiculous it was becoming on that show and have put House and Cuddy together this season. It may not be long-term but it's so much better than another season of unrealistic excuses.

Ratings for Bones this season are very good so viewers are indeed still watching.
You and I both know Hart to Hart was different because the leads were a couple from the very beginning. There was no anticipation to see them get together.
I have never watched House so I can't comment about that show.
