Inspired by Therapy's toenail incident, I'd like to share some gruesome injury stories with everyone. Particularly my brother's. I hope that he'll come around soon cuz I can't possibly remember them all. Share yours too if you've had any.

Story #1:

When Ian was about 6 he was first learning how to ride his bike. Once he had learned how, he was allowed to go around the neighborhood and visit friends. One day with his friend BJ, he was riding barefoot. Big mistake. His toe got caught between the chain and where it rests on the sprockets and got ground up all the way through it. Luckily, Mrs. Booth (our favorite neighbor lady) was there to witness it and helped carry him all the way home cuz there was no way he could walk. He was actually pretty calm until he got home. My parents instantly ran some cool bath water for him to soak his foot in. It wasn't until then that we realized how bad it was. His toe was so fucked that it was floating around, hanging by just a piece of skin!!! It took a long time to recover and it still looks like a mutant toe to this day.

Ouch!

Well, this isn't gruesome, but it hurt like hell. When I was 12 or 13 I was roller skating and stopped to fix the wheel on my skate. This rather large woman decided that she was going to perform tricks that no woman that large should try to perform. She ended up falling square on my back, bending me over in two. Then held me while my mom came and then told her that she didn't know where the lady went who did this. I wasn't able to speak as the wind was knocked out of me still.

Ended up, the bottom three vertabrae were crushed and one was broken. I was laid up for nearly a year and had to lie flat on a piece of plywood the entire time... after two months, the plywood went under the matress.

That was not only painful, but horrible to be locked up in a house for that long.

I'd say that's pretty gruesome Heather.

Okay. Story #2:

For some reason my friend Andrew and I were going around with hack saws, destroying tree limbs, flowers, whatever we could find. For some other strange reason, we were trying to fuck up this hedge. And wouldn't you know, my brother decides to walk through this hedge. To his surprise, he caught a sawblade right above the eye from good old Andrew. With blood gushing into his eye and screaming like a maniac, we took him to my parents, who then took him to the emergency room. The scar ended up right under his eyebrow. It looks pretty cool now that he's older cuz he has a twin scar underneath his other eyebrow from getting dropped off someone's shoulders onto a glass table while they were giving him a piggyback ride.

For the record, the Ian that TRON is referring to is "Moonbeam" on the Org. Not me

I don't really have any gruesome stories. I did fall out of a tree when I was climbing as a kid and I ripped my eye open during the fall towards the ground... had to get stiches all along my eyelid etc and I nearly lost my eye. Lucky I didn't!

My friend and I were in Myrtle Beach, we were 16, and flirting with some boys from the safety of our balcony. We told them which room we were in, and they said they'd come up. So I thought I heard them knocking on the door, and I walked from the balcony through the sliding glass door--except, I"d CLOSED the door, so as I was taking a sip of Coke, I walked into the door and the (drinking) glass broke and a shard of it went right between my eyes...I was in shock, wasn't feeling anything, and reached up and felt it and pulled it out and blood came GUSHING out from between my eyes.

We had to wait til my Dad and his girlfriend got back from dinner, I was a minor and couldn't get medical treatment on my own. I ended up with dark stitches that ran zig-zagging between my eyes (very Bride of Frankenstein ) and had to spend the rest of the vacation looking like a freak.

Story #3:

Ian was quite young in this one. Maybe 4. If I had a picture from this time I would post it, but can't put shit up on the web. Anyway, poor little Ian was just having fun, swinging on our swingset. But he was unaware that the concrete that holds it in place in the ground was coming loose. So he just kept swinging higher and higher, faster and faster and the whole fucker started rocking. Then 2 legs of it came out of the ground and the entire set came crashing down on top of him. Luckily there was a indentation in the ground where Ian landed or else it would've broken his neck or crushed his windpipe. Instead it was resting on his shoulder. My family came out to find him laughing hysterically. But then when they got him inside, his shoulder swelled up like a football pad. His whole bone thrust straight throught the socket and they were worried he might not have full range of motion with that arm again. Luckily things turned out okay.

When I was about 16 years old, my friends and I used to like to have loads of fun by climbing on top of my parents' house and jumping into the pool... great fun it was too... until...

I jumped from the house... pretty high, really... a friend made a free-style swimming move the positioned him in my path... I pulled back with my legs and pointed my feet straight down. My feet made contact with the bottom of the pool... my toes were split with three toes going forward and two toes going back as the foot flattened against the bottom of the pool. The force ripped all the way through my foot between my third and fourth toe... the tear went about 3 inches back through my foot... all the way through... blood was spraying like a water hose... it sucked.

Lots of internal and external stitches later, my foot was repaired.

Reminds me of a worse version of when I kicked a metal box fan. The corner went right between by 4th and pinky toe and made them separate at right angles. I haven't been able to move that pinky toe since.

Either I was a pretty safe kid or my mom was overprotective, as I don't have anything as NEARLY as gross as you guys.

The grossest one I have is when my sister was chasing me around the house, threatening to spit on me. The floors in our house are mostly hardwood, with rugs on top of them. My sister slipped on the rug and pushed me. I went flying into the hinge of the closet, temple first. You could see white bone straight through the big hole in the side of my head.

This is the grossest part - my mom was sick and tired of us kids "horsing around" so she decided to play nurse and fix it herself. It was also late Sunday evening and every place was closed apparently. She got on the phone with a doctor and used butterfly bandages to close it. It healed but to this day I have this HUGE crater on my temple.

I'd say bone showing through skin qualifies as gruesome and gross. You did just fine, Natsume.

Summertime again. Barefoot again. My brother could not stop stubbing his toe. Just when it would start to heal, he would go and lob the end of his toe off again. It started to get so bad that you could see muscle tissue and every time it would end up looking more and more like ground hamburger. You should see his feet. Half of his toes and toenails are deformed.

Goddamn! Poor Ian, what the hell was going on with his childhood karma for all of this to happen to the lil fella?!
